Introducing...
OTOLITH SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD
Sourcing Wild Alaskan Seafood for Pennsylvania,
New York City, New Jersey, and Delaware
|
|
Imagine having the freshest, sustainably harvested seafood delivered straight to your door! Now you can, when you order fish for delivery from Otolith Sustainable Seafood.
Otolith owner (and Hyperion Bank customer)
Amanda Bossard
is based on the border of Philadelphia's East Kensington and Fishtown neighborhoods, but don't look for a storefront--Otolith's highest quality seafood is only available to wholesalers or at a few local retailers and farmer's markets, or by personal order at
www.otolithonline.com
.
On the Otolith website, you can see their beautiful array of seafood, schedule a private Sushi Party/Lesson event in your home, learn about how you can participate in the Community Supported Seafood (CSS) Summer Harvest Program, read informative blog posts about wild seafood harvesting, handling and cooking, and find delicious recipes to use with your home-delivered, fresh fish and shellfish.
Amanda studied marine biology at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage, Alaska. In 1999, she met her husband and business partner, Murat Aritan, a commercial fisherman, when she began working on the F/V Sunset, his 65' halbut schooner turned salmon tender. They later married and in 2007 Amanda opened Otolith in Philadelphia, but every summer she and their two children, now 15 and 13, return to Alaska to work as deckhands with Murat, using hooks and lines to catch targeted salmon throughout the summer wild salmon harvest.
Amanda and Murat are supporters of conservative and profitable, renewable seafood resource management. They continue to grow their direct market seafood products by contracting custom services with small processors to create unique wild seafood products that reflect their dedication to quality and the environment.
Amanda also shares her passion for providing wild fish to the tri-state area through their CSS, a co-op program that can provide you with wild fish that is nutritious, reasonably priced, and good for the planet! You can also order fresh fish year-round through their exclusive relationships with small fisheries. Learn more at

$500 million final phase of Piazza development will transform our Northern Liberties neighborhood & boost local businesses
|
|
Our Philadelphia neighborhood--just steps away from our Hyperion Bank building--will grow exponentially when Post Brothers completes the final phase of the Piazza, a mixed-use community launched 20 years ago by local real estate developer Bart Blatstein of Tower Investments. As reported by Natalie Kostelni in the Philadelphia Business Journal (Dec. 10, 2019), Post Brothers, a Philadelphia real estate company that acquired a majority stake in the Piazza in 2018, has now secured financing to start construction on 697 units planned as part of a total 1,100 residential apartments to be developed in multiple buildings at the Piazza. The additional units are expected to follow at a later date.
Blatstein was quoted as saying he estimates the new apartments will increase the population in the neighborhood by 20%. "This is the final, large piece left," Blatstein said. "It's exciting to see it now go to the next level. It's very significant because this creates additional density to support the commercial services--the shops, the restaurants--that everyone wants and loves."
Kostelni noted that existing rentals are strong at the Piazza, where apartments are fully occupied and rents have gone up to $2,300 for a one-bedroom unit. Tenants find the neighborhood to be a "cool" alternative to Center City, and affordable as compared to New York City, Princeton, and other parts of New Jersey, where some tenants commute for work. She reported that the new phase will include mostly one-bedroom and studio units which will begin leasing at around $2,200 or less in 18 to 24 months.
Hyperion Bank looks forward to welcoming our newest neighbors to the community!
