Happy New Year!

2022 is known as the year of the Water Tiger by Japanese astronomers and with the change from the Ox, there is the expectation that the new year will bring renewed optimism from the active and motivational energies of the Tiger.

We plan to use this renewed vigor to complete our Survey for Japanese language education, so if you are a Japanese teacher and haven't completed the survey yet, please make sure to contact us so we can help you out.

This month is al the start of winter term for our Japanese language courses and there are still a few seats remaining so check out the link below if you are interested in learning.

Finally, we will be organizing our usual trio of wellness events as well as online Japanema so make sure to tune in online. And as always, we appreciate your continued support!

2022 J-LEAP
The initial Lead Teacher (LT)/Host Organization application period for the Japanese Language Education Assistant Program (J-LEAP) has ended, and now the Laurasian Institution and the Japan Foundation will now select the best candidates from those who applied to move forward.

In the meantime, JF Headquarters has begun its Assistant Teacher (AT) application period which will end on Tuesday, January 18th, 2022.
VIRTUAL KARATE EXERCISE AT LUNCHTIME

Whether at work or at home, let's refresh yourself for 15 minutes on your lunchtime together with us! Karate Exercise will be offered via JFLA Facebook LIVE!

World class instructors from Kyokushin Karate of Los Angeles will give you a set of beginner’s level exercises from their basic movement with their English instruction.

Bilingual Yoga will be offered this month via JFLA Facebook LIVE!

No need to change clothes or use a yoga mat; you will be seated in a chair at home and receive an instruction from our instructor in bilingual (English and Japanese). Easy and relaxed!

Meditation with Japanese Singing Bowl will be offered this month via JFLA Facebook LIVE!

The singing bowl used for this program harmoniously combines the healing qualities of the Tibetan singing bowl and its Japanese traditional singing bowl. Relax and feel your stress dissipate into thin air as the sounds of the singing bowl lead you into a meditative state.

To all the Japanese teachers all across the country, we wish you a belated happy new year! We will continue to work all our partners in education to support Japanese language all across the US.

Starting back in mid-December, Mike Penny, one of our grant coordinators, took over all Advocacy activities for the time being. We hope you will all welcome him into his new role.

We are also in the process of adding more resources to our Survey team so that we can contact every Japanese language teacher in the country to get an accurate count of Japanese language learners in the United States. Your support is greatly appreciated and we thank all those who have already completed the Survey!

Finally, we are looking for a new Full Time Team Member here at JFLA to join the Japanese language team. If you are interested, please read the job description here for additional information.
