An Online Newsletter Showcasing Our Programs for the Month of September, 2022!
A heat wave will be welcoming those of us on the West Coast to kick off the month of September. If you don't have AC, you can cool down while viewing our current exhibition Engines of Progress: Images of Railroad Culture in Modern Japan featuring prints and artifacts from the Paulette and Jack Lantz Collection.

We will also be continuing our trio of wellness events this month with monthly themes so make sure to join us on Facebook every Wednesday at 12:30PM PT. Have a relaxing Labor Day weekend and stay hydrated!

General Invitation to Join JF USA Digital Library
We started our digital library back in April in coordination with our New York and Toronto offices. There have been an overwhelming amount of interest in Libby and we appreciate everyone who have signed up to use this free service. If you know anyone who is interested in a digital library that specializes in Japanese language and culture related books, please forward them this newsletter and they can find more information at the link below. Applicants need to be 14 years or older and confirmation emails will be sent out at the end of the day on Tuesdays and Thursdays with directions on how you can login to the system and start checking out digital books on your phone or computer. Please make sure to check your spam box, especially for Gmail users and you do not need to register multiple times. If you do not receive a welcome email from us within a few days of registering, please make sure to contact us. If you have any questions, please reply to this email. We hope you will enjoy this new service from the Japan Foundation, Los Angeles!

Also, all OverDrive video titles were removed from on September 1, 2022, due to OverDrive acquiring Kanopy, a leading streaming video service and now OverDrive's flagship app for streaming video content.

Japanese Language Education Update 105
With the upcoming Labor Day Weekend, Summer is officially coming to an end and most if not all schools will be starting the new school year. Many including those here in Los Angeles have already started in the middle of August and many more will start next week including our own JF Nihongo Japanese language courses.

Our 2022~23 grant programs will also be coming to and end this month and grants for the 2023~2024 will be available in the next few months including our Teacher Training Program so be on the lookout for that.

Finally, we have several Assistant Teachers (ATs), teaching here for the first time and others on their second year and we look forward to hearing about their experiences soon. We wish all the teachers out there a safe and successful school year!
