An Online Newsletter Showcasing Our Programs for the Month of July, 2023!
Last month was the start of our photo exhibition ŌMECITTÀ by Chantal Stoman. We appreciate everyone who came out to the opening and also to the film screening to support this collaborative effort with people from different countries to explore Japanese art and culture. If you missed the screening, we will be showing the documentary every Saturday at 1:00PM and 3:00PM respectively so we hope you will join us.

This month, we are supporting a host of events including a summer festival at Tanaka Farms, performances at JACCC, and streaming videos online. Our Japanese language classes are taking a break during this time, but we are organizing more classes that will start in September with registration starting in early August.

With the change in season to warm blue skies of summer, we hope you will come out and join us for our summertime events!

The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles is pleased to announce its exhibition of French artist Chantal Stoman's ŌMECITTÀ, a one-of-a-kind photography project with a companion documentary. While in Japan in 2017, Chantal Stoman heard rumors of a town that had once been the epicenter of cinema during the Showa era, though no pictures nor online mentions of it existed. The name of this town was Ōme. After doing her own research and still not being able to find anybody in all of Tokyo who had been to or had even heard of Ōme, Chantal Stoman went there herself and was amazed at what she found.
