Advice: Moving on and up from “You’re overqualified”
When the conversation after a job interview reflects “you’re overqualified”, rather than just saying thank you and moving on, you might consider how you can carve out an opportunity. Try this positive reply: “Thank you. Since you have a good understanding of my background, is there anyone in your network you are aware of who is looking for someone at this level? I’d also love to stay in touch should something here change”. A positive response to a negative response can also demonstrate your ability to handle feedback with ease.
