New faces take office
on zoning commission
Louis Mastrangelo, left, and Chris Forton , both candidates in the May City Council election, were sworn in to the Lakeway Zoning and Planning Commission at Wednesday's meeting.
Forton is a four-year resident with a background in business and finance. Mastrangelo is a hiring consultant who has lived here for five years.
Capitol Hill pays
visit to Lakeway
U.S. Rep. Roger Williams, Dist. 25, met with Lakeway Mayor Sandy Cox and City Manager Steve Jones on July 2 at Lakeway City Hall.
They discussed infrastructure, mental health issues, and school safety.
Monument engraving deadline approaches
Lakeway veterans or their families have until Aug. 15 to apply for the veteran’s name to be added to the Spirit of Freedom Monument, which honors more than 1,100 local veterans.
The engravings will be completed in October with the ceremony scheduled for Nov. 9.
In response to multiple complaints of speeding, the city installed new traffic signs at Lakeway City Park on Hurst Creek Road, which averages nearly 900 vehicles per day at that location according to an April 2018 speed study . The signs alert drivers that a playground is adjacent to the road and to use caution.
Cherry Peak Office Park won approval from Lakeway Zoning and Planning Commission on Wednesday for a multi-tenant monument sign. The development will feature 11 free-standing offices ranging in size from 3,000 square feet to 5,000 square feet. It is zoned Office/Retail (C-1).
