LuncheonAugust Breakfast Meeting: Bring your CEO, Executive Director, and/or Board President to Breakfast
Speaker: Janice Gow Pettey
Thursday, August 4, 2016 // 7:30a - 9:00a
Tulsa Garden Center

Janice will lead an interactive discussion on the topic "How's Your Ethical Vision?", where she will share how an organization cannot consider the depth of engaging a culturally diverse population in its fundraising practice without also considering the ethical dimensions of such a move. Bring your leadership and colleagues to this thought-provoking breakfast to be inspired and engaged in this high-level conversation about how we serve who we serve, and why it matters.

If your review and reporting process is anything like mine, the time may have come to evaluate your year-to-date fundraising activity and prepare year-end projections based on current performance levels. Even if your governance structure requires less formality of process, are you taking sometime this month to assess your progress and consider minor adjustments to assure year-end success?

How can you be sure your fundraising goals are on track?  Beyond percentage raised to goal and retention rate of dollars and donors, are there other metrics you use to assess your health, wealth, growth and sustainability? Are you relying on gut feeling and environmental scanning alone, or do you have hard data to back it up?

My new favorite resource is the Fundraising Effectiveness Project, an initiative of AFP IHQ and the Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy at the Urban Institute.

July Webinar: How Social Justice Fuels Philanthropy

Speaker: Simone P. Joyaux, ACFRE
Wednesday, July 13, 2016 // 12:30 - 1:30pm
Tulsa Area United Way & Bartlesville Area United Way

Philanthropy and its essential partner, fund development, are glorious marvels but they raise some concerns. For example: raising money to fight for justice, not just compensating for injustice. Excessive focus on big donors and major gifts - ignoring gifts of all sizes from diverse donors. It's past time for empowerment, democratizing philanthropy, and producing justice. This webinar is about thinking in a new way.
