Training Room begins
its transition to use as conference room
Three 84-inch monitors and one 55-inch monitor were installed in the training room in mid-June. The changes are to prepare the room for its use as a conference room when the new training addition is complete. The Technology Division provided training for staff on how to use the new display system.
Welcome our summer intern
Ilean Curry is a rising senior at Virginia State University, where she majors in mass communication with a concentration in public relations and minors in political science and marketing. She serves in the Student Government Association and the Public Relations Student Society of America. She is from the "oh-so-very-cold" Syracuse, New York.
We're past the halfway point!
Construction of the new training addition and parking lot is about 55 percent complete, according to Tory Maye. No more relocation of employees from the operations floor is expected to be needed, he said.

Ten graduate on June 8
from 28th Basic Dispatch Academy
Congratulations to all of the graduates, who are now in the on-the-job training. The 29th Basic Dispatch Academy begins July 23.

Text-to-911 launched with public announcements
Text-to-911 was announced by Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney and other Capital Region leaders at a news conference on June 4. The news release, fliers and a public service video created by Henrico County were released to kick off the public education campaign. Richmond DEC celebrated the successful launch with a luncheon on June 6, where Justin Briggs and Karen Gill were awarded citations for their work on the project.

DEC working to educate Richmond citizens about using 911
Thanks to Keanna Key and Shawanna Freeman, DEC was able to help teach the public about 911 at the June 16 5K Bike Ride and Community Day, sponsored by the Richmond Police Department. We need workers for upcoming events also!
