Council gets first
look at budget
City Manager Steve Jones and Assistant City Manager Julie Oakley presented a draft Fiscal Year 2019 budget to City Council on Monday.
The staff has initially proposed a $13.72 million budget with a list of potential additions for council to review.
The next budget review is set for 2 p.m. Aug. 6.

Lakeway Police Department on Wednesday marked the five-year anniversary of the passing of LPD Sgt. Chris Doles.
On July 25, 2013, Doles died from injuries sustained in a car crash while on his way to work.
Officers placed a floral arrangement in his honor at the ceremony at the Lakeway Justice Center.
Shutterbug lands photo exhibit at Zilker garden
Lakeway Councilmember Dwight Haley attended the opening reception for Lakeway artist Cheri Lamonte’s photography exhibit on July 19 at the Zilker Botanical Garden.
The exhibit, which runs through Sept. 15, is the first one of its kind to be displayed at the garden.
Lamonte's photographs also have been featured on the covers of several books and in online and print publications.

For its 10th year of educating children, Serene Hills Elementary School is getting its first flashing school speed limit signs.
Lakeway Public Works is coordinating with Travis County and the Village of The Hills in an effort to install the signs before the school year starts Aug. 15.
