Please support your neighbours and spread the word to your networks.

The menus are live on the website.

La Machine will make its final appearance at the War Museum on Sunday, July 30th

Sunday, July 30th
between  9:00 and 10:00 pm.

Ottawa 2017 is thrilled to bring
La Machine, one of its most anticipated Signature Events, to Ottawa from
July 27 to 30

Making its North American debut, La Machine will captivate the public with its travelling urban theatre and its majestic mechanical creatures, who will bring thousands of residents and visitors to the streets of downtown Ottawa.

The show is entitled The Spirit of the Dragon-Horse, With Stolen Wings and was created by
François Delarozière, the Artistic Director of La Machine, a French theatre production company.

The show's protagonists, Long Ma, a dragon-horse and a giant spider, will wander around in public spaces and interact with the environment. These very large machines are controlled by operators who create a gateway
between themselves and the citizens. They will invade the heart of the capital and live among us for 24 hours a day over the course of four days as they pursue their quest and fulfill their destiny.

La Vendemmia / Grapefest - Business decorating contest coming soon!
We will send more information in the August newsletter, but wanted to give you time to think about how you could decorate your business for September.

There will be numerous categories, and it will all be explained in the next newsletter.

Start your planning!

Want your event featured on the Preston BIA website?

Have you submitted your events to the Preston Street BIA to have it featured?

The Events calendar is available both online and in print. It's purpose is to promote events created and hosted by our BIA merchants and relevant events in the area that would be of interest for locals and tourists to attend.

We can add events to the web events calendar throughout the month so be sure to make us aware of any special event or promotion you are having.  The BIA website gets over 6,000 views each month, that's eyeballs you want to be in front of.

We will also use that information to expand your advertising reach through the BIA social media channels.

If you have an event that you would like listed on the website, email

The print calendar goes out once per month and is distributed as posters so merchants can hang it in their windows. It is also hung on poles in the Preston area and distributed to Ottawa Business Journal and Kitchissippi Times readers on the back page of the newspapers.

This provides the opportunity for you to promote your events to a much wider audience and take advantage of the advertising dollars the BIA has invested to promote Preston businesses to an audience outside of Preston Street.

Have a look at how wide that audience is.

The OBJ has a huge reader base that your event could be seen by.

OBJ Distribution:
  • 20,000+ copies distributed each issue, with 10,000 print copies delivered to 500 locations, 1,000 VIP copies, exclusive distribution to the Ottawa International Airport, and 10,000 digital editions.
Kitchissippi Times Distribution:
  • 18,000 copies distributed each issue. Of those, 4,500 go to Ottawa Citizen subscribers, 10,500 to FlyerForce door-to-door, and 3,000 copies go to 115 drop points at the busiest retail locations, street boxes, and community centres... this community is right next door.
What are you waiting for? Get your event added to the Meet Me on Preston events.  Submit your event by the deadline and let the BIA spread the word.*

*note:  The Preston Street BIA reserves the right to review and approve all events and content prior to posting.

The Centre for Gender & Sexual Diveristy is excited to launch: Proud City!

Over the last 12 years, the CCGSD (The Canadian Centre for Gender & Sexual Diversity) has worked in schools, community organizations, and in government to make Ottawa a safer place. We run free workshops to inform youth and adults about LGBTQ+ culture, community, and history. We are also the proud leader of the International Day of Pink, a day that encourages youth and adults to wear pink to stand up against bullying.

Our organization has created a campaign called Proud City, an initiative created to recognize businesses, community organizations, and religious groups in the Ottawa area that are LGBTQ+ friendly, and to promote them on our website for the Ottawa community and visitors coming in to the city for Capital Pride (August 21st- 27th).
