JULY 2025

With FSD Service Dog Shuri, every day is Independence Day

U.S. Marine Corps veteran Imna fought for our country’s freedoms, but in her service, she lost a piece of her own liberty and justice. Deeply affected by PTSD, Imna struggled with horrifying nightmares, a crushing fear of being alone or in public, and debilitating anxiety.

That was until she was partnered with FSD Service Dog Shuri, who empowers Imna to be the kind of mother, friend, and person she’s always wanted to be. Leading with love for her Marine, Shuri is the hero she needed and the one she never expected.

Join us in celebrating Imna’s journey to more hope and independence with Shuri by reading more!

If you or someone you know are a veteran or first responder living with PTSD or traumatic brain injuries, we invite you to reach out to FSD to learn more about how FSD Dogs can make a difference. Call FSD at 303-922-6231 or email clients@freedomservicedogs.org

FSD DOG TYPES

Did you know that Freedom Service Dogs places service dogs, professional therapy dogs, skilled companion dogs, and pet dogs? Each pup in our program is purposefully placed where they can have the greatest impact, creating meaningful partnerships that benefit humans and dogs alike.

But what’s the difference between our assistance dog programs? And what happens when a dog doesn’t quite meet the high standards required to graduate as an assistance dog? Check out our new blog to learn more about each of our programs and the incredible ways our dogs change lives!

Faces of Freedom Denver raises $153,000

The 12th Annual Faces of Freedom: Denver Sporting Clays Tournament, co-presented by Liberty Energy and Chevron, raised over $153,000 to help FSD partner more custom-trained assistance dogs with veterans and first responders with PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, and other combat-related injuries. A huge thank you to everyone who participated, sponsored, volunteered, and donated at this year’s event to help our nation’s heroes.

Did you miss this year’s Faces of Freedom: Denver? No problem! We welcome you to join us for our other tournaments on September 5, 2025, in Midland, Texas for Faces of Freedom: Midland and at Faces of Freedom: Houston in Houston, Texas on November 7, 2025, for more friendly competition and camaraderie.

Celebrating Disability Pride Month

This Disability Pride Month, and every month, we celebrate people with disabilities and the importance of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which includes laws that protect service animals and the people who need them.

At FSD, we are honored to empower people living with disabilities with service dogs who open doors of possibilities. With a highly-trained Freedom Service Dog by their side, the incredible individuals we serve experience a renewed sense of independence, happiness, and hope. For them, our puppies with a purpose are a lot more than assistance dogs—they’re everyday game changers!

Thank you, Sturgeon Electric!

On July 12, 2025, we hit the road with our friends at Sturgeon Electric for their 10th Annual Poker Run, all in support of FSD’s mission and our nation’s heroes. This year’s ride was a huge success, with more than $100,000 raised!

This year’s event was made that much more meaningful with special guests in attendance: U.S. Army veteran Larry and his Freedom Service Dog Bordeaux.

We would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to Sturgeon Electric for their incredible generosity of an entire decade of these tournaments! We’d also like to thank team Larry and Bordeaux and everyone who rode, donated, and contributed to making this year’s Poker Run the best one yet!
