AMY ELLIS
Senior Vice President, Commercial Lending

Amy joined Hyperion Bank in late 2019, bringing 15 years of experience in the Atlanta banking market, primarily in the community bank setting. She launched her career working in branch management and operations for one of the country’s largest financial institutions, and soon advanced to roles in its wealth and investment management division, where she specialized in working with high-net worth clients, attorneys, professional services firms, and real estate investors.

After four years with a big-box bank, Amy became a relationship manager at three community banks, where her client portfolios included individuals and families, small businesses and business owners, real estate investors, and nonprofit organizations. She enjoys finding creative solutions to her clients’ financing needs, and believes that community banking offers greater opportunities to customize products and solutions to help achieve her clients’ goals.

Amy is always striving to better understand her customers and their individual and business banking goals. Her dedication to building and maintaining customer-focused banking relationships matches Hyperion Bank’s philosophy, which drives our team to deliver the highest quality, personal service to all our clients.

Amy graduated from the University of Georgia’s Terry School of Business, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Banking and Finance and developed her passion for UGA football. An Atlanta native, she now lives with her husband and two daughters in Roswell, GA.

Fun fact: Amy loves to be active and outdoors with her family, enjoying the beach and other activities. She also serves as Treasurer for both of her daughters' Girl Scout troops and volunteers at their school. How has Amy kept her family active during the COVID-19 quarantine? Email Amy.
Q3 2020 Economic Outlook
by Lara Rhame, Chief U.S. Economist,
Managing Director, FS Investments
Lift off?
"Q3 starts off at a weaker place than any quarter since WWII as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, but with reopening has come optimism. There are important supports for our nascent recovery that could fuel a strong rebound in Q3. However, our economy also faces significant challenges that could intensify and impact growth later in 2020. Investors will need to navigate a vastly altered landscape of sky-high equity market valuations, continued uncertainty about the economic recovery, and shrinking options to find income." -- Lara Rhame
Key Takeaways
  • Reopening has spurred hope that the worst economic news is in the rearview mirror.
  • Lingering high unemployment could erode resilient consumer confidence
  • Acute volatility could return, driven by looming uncertainty surrounding the pandemic.

How are businesses coping with COVID-19?
COVID-19 has placed unprecedented challenges in front of small business owners. This month we spoke with two of our Atlanta customers to learn how they are adapting to serve their customers and clients during the pandemic.
Thank you to Katie Jones of Buckhead Art & Company and Hap Richardson of iFOLIO for sharing their experiences and business tips.

How has the pandemic impacted your business?

Katie: Buckhead Art & Company had to be closed during the time of the City of Atlanta stay-at-home ordinance. This highly impacted our business as exhibits, events, and in-house showings could not take place. The gallery is just not the same without our amazing clients within it!

Hap: COVID-19 is a challenge for all businesses. Social distancing means that lunch with a client, a networking event, or a collaborative meeting are virtual now and we must find new ways to connect and engage. iFOLIO modernizes sales and marketing with digital portfolios that tell your business story. iFOLIO can be a presentation, a marketing campaign, or a digital business card - all shared 1-to-1 through personalized text message campaigns. During this unprecedented time, our team has come together to help our clients. We have less people in the office at any time, but are honored, now more than ever, to be able to offer businesses a way to connect with clients and move deals forward digitally.

Have you reopened and how are you servicing customers under COVID restrictions?

Katie: The gallery is currently open by appointment only. Our hope is that our clients will feel a little bit more comfortable in our space knowing that their appointment time is set aside specifically for them! In order to decrease risk of the pandemic, we are highly encouraging online sales on our website--please visit us online to see our new inventory or follow our Instgram at @buckheadartcompany. For all art or event inquiries, please contact [email protected].

Hap: iFOLIO has not closed but we are more virtual. For our clients, we maintain 24 hours per day/7 days a week uptime on our platform. For our team, we have a staggered 2-2-1 formation for the front office alternating team members for 2 days in the office, 2 days virtual, and Fridays working from home with a team meeting on zoom. We demo to customers, set them up on the platform, build their iFOLIOs, and help them with campaigns - all virtually. We help our clients connect, engage, and convert with digital portfolios and personalized text campaigns when they cannot be face to face. iFOLIO is proud to be an Atlanta based tech firm, powering over 5,350 clients including GE, Madison Square Garden, Atlanta Falcons NFL, Equifax and more. Check out this iFOLIO for 4 mobile communication tips and key text message statistics for business leaders to know for 2020.

How can customers support your small business?

Katie: Because of the pandemic, we’ve had to get creative and think about where there is a need. Buckhead Art & Company is the perfect space for a small intimate event following the pandemic standards. If your wedding or event has been postponed these past few months - we may be the right space for you! We are so grateful for our clients and we look forward to the day they can all be back in the gallery again for an exhibit! For the time being, we would love your support by following our social media pages and reaching out if you have a need for art! If a client has a specific wall space with room for art, we are happy to provide you some images of our pieces within your own space!

Hap: We are happy to help your business! If you would like to learn more about how iFOLIO can help your business stay connected with your customers and prospects, please contact us at [email protected] or visit our website to learn more. We appreciate your support on social media so please FOLLOW us on LinkedIn at iFOLIO , Twitter @ifolio , and Instagram @ifoliocorp !

How has Hyperion Bank helped you manage your business banking during these challenging times?

Katie: Hyperion Bank has gone above and beyond to help Buckhead Art & Company during the pandemic. Amy Ellis, our banker, helped us with account management and the PPP process during this time. Amy, we can’t thank you enough!

Hap: Amy Ellis from Hyperion Bank has gone above and beyond to make sure iFOLIO does not miss a beat! From working with us to receive a wire over a weekend, to enthusiastically tuning into a demo with our team, Hyperion Bank has made us feel #1, even throughout COVID-19.

Celebrate Independence Day Safely with Virtual
and In-Person PHL & ATL Events
July 4th will be celebrated differently this year, as cities and towns across America seek ways to minimize COVID-19 transmission and keep their residents safe. While many traditional events have been cancelled, you can still find live and virtual fireworks shows and online celebrations to commemorate Independence Day over the holiday weekend.
PHILADELPHIA REGION
The Room Where It Happened
Philadelphia's Independence Hall is where it all began, and since 1993 the City's Welcome America Festival has worked to educate, entertain, and celebrate the historic events that occurred here on July 4, 1776. Although fireworks and all in-person events have been cancelled, the 7-day virtual festival is already underway, with a spectacular schedule of more than 50 free, multicultural and multi-generational programs showcasing Philadelphia's diverse voices.
Presented with the National Park Service and a wide range of partners, the entirely virtual Festival features concerts and cultural performances, museum tours, history and educational activities, cooking and crafts demonstrations, a U.S. Army Esports Tournament, health and wellness events, and unique behind-the-scenes experiences, such as a discussion about the signing of the Declaration of Independence in the actual room where it happened--one of many PECO Go 4th and Learn family-friendly events. It all ends with a big concert broadcast live at 8 pm, followed by a re-broadcast of Philadelphia's taped grand fireworks show from 2019. Follow #July4thPhilly for updates. Learn more.
