Summer has arrived and that means that many of us may be dusting off our sporting equipment and spending more time outside soaking up the sun and enjoying our favorite sports. I often find that some of the skills I possessed during more regular play has diminished with the long winter hiatus. It can be frustrating to aim for success and find the results are less than anticipated. What do you do when your golf swing develops a nasty slice, your tennis serve faults or your bowling game has gone to the gutters?

You go back to basics.

It's the same with fundraising. When things are going well, most fundraisers are able to enjoy limited success. After all, our causes are noble and people are generous. But it's when times get tougher that t he economy has the potential to have a real and lasting effect on our fundraising efforts.

Building Personal Connections

Speaker: Debbie Starnes
Thursday, June 9, 2016 // 11:30 - 1:00pm
Bartlesville Regional United Way

Donors should be at the heart of our organizations, alongside the people we serve. The first step in learning to develop a relationship with donors is to develop a relationship a connection to the people we serve. This training will explore our relationships with donors with a focus on building personal rather than functional relationships. We will explore various age groups and the different characteristics that influence giving and the way we keep those donors in touch. Basic tenants of fundraising will be discussed, along with ways you can keep your focus on the donor and their focus on the people you serve.

Pat yourself on the back AFP of Eastern Oklahoma! We are the 1
st chapter to report 100% Board participation for 2016, that is stellar. Thanks to the current AFP Board for making this happen early on. Nationally, the campaign has raised, to date, $159,737 which is 30% of the national goal. This represents 1,373 donors. Our current Eastern Oklahoma Chapter numbers are $1,095.00 of which $164.25 will come back to our Chapter thus far. 10.60% of you as Chapter members have donated thus far, THANK YOU! We use the portion coming back to our chapter for scholarships for chapter members, another benefit of membership.

There is a new text to donate option, which you can just text BETHECAUSE (all caps) to 61416 to donate. To make a 1 time donation or to set up a pledge and pay out over 4 months, go to
