The evening will be hosted in person and virtually on June 19 2024 from 6-8 pm at the Ojibway Nature Centre located at 5200 Matchette Rd, Windsor, ON N9C 4E8. Parking is available onsite. Guests will hear updates on the Remedial Action Plan, our updated work plan to meet those goals, and preview the 2023/24 annual report.
Not only will you hear about the activities the DRCC has been up to over the past year, you will also hear from some great guest speakers about their work for a better, cleaner, Detroit River. Our guests this year include Claire Sanders from Parks Canada who will provide an update on the proposed National Urban Park in the Windsor Area and Lindsay Bennett and Katie Bosco from the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority who will provide an update on environmental measures implemented during the construction of the Gordie Howe Bridge.
The event is free, but registration is required. We look forward to seeing you there!

Learn to fish with the DRCC | |
Join the DRCC and expert anglers from Just Fishin’ Friends for the upcoming Detroit River Family Fishing Day. This event is designed to teach local residents to fish the Detroit River. The event takes place at Riverdance Park in LaSalle on July 6 from 8 am to 1 pm. Fishing equipment and bait will be available for public use for free. There are limited rods available. Participants are encouraged to bring their own rods (if they have them), folding chairs, a hat, sunscreen/bug spray, life jacket, reusable water bottle, snacks and plenty of patience while waiting for a bite! All children must be accompanied by a parent, grandparent or legal guardian who will be required to sign a waiver and release form on-site for each participating child. Event is free, but registration is required.

Help us clean up local watersheds! | |
Five watersheds in the region will be cleaner and healthier, thanks to a generous gift from ADM’s corporate social investment program, ADM Cares. Watershed cleanups will be conducted by ADM employees and volunteers in each of the Belle River, Pike Creek, Little River, Turkey Creek and the Canard River over the next five months.
The first watershed cleanup will take place on Saturday, June 22 along a portion of the Turkey Creek and LaSalle Trail System. The event will begin at 10am at Vince Marcotte Park. This is a family-friendly event, so everyone is welcome!

Great Lakes Action Plan accepting applications | |
Great news for the Great Lakes! The provincial government is investing $1.8 million in projects within the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River Basin through the Great Lakes Local Action Fund.
Community groups and organizations are encouraged to apply for funding for projects that increase climate change resiliency and protect or improve water quality. Applications are due September 26 2024.

ADM & Friends Watershed Cleanup – Turkey Creek
June 22, Vince Marcotte Park, LaSalle, ON
On June 22, 2024, Essex Region Conservation Authority (ERCA), ADM Agri-Industries, and the Detroit River Canadian Cleanup team will work with community volunteers to remove accumulated debris and litter along a portion of the Turkey Creek and LaSalle Trail System. ERCA staff will be set up in Vince Marcotte Park conducting onsite registration beginning at 10 am. A waiver will be sent to participants shortly before the event to review, print and sign to bring to the event. You can then access cleaning supplies and begin the cleanup. Annual Cops and Kids Fishing Derby
June 23, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm, Dieppe Park (Riverside Drive & Ouellette, Windsor, ON
Join the Windsor Police Association for their Annual Cops and Kids Fishing Derby. Bring your fishing pole. Snacks, beverages, and bait will be supplied and there will be prizes for the biggest catch.

Family Fishing Day
