I seem to be moving a bit slow these days, and I'm blaming it on the South! I'd like to report that the sewing room boxes are unpacked and organized. Hmph. Most of the boxes are unpacked, but organized? Not so much. But, despite the piles of stuff covering my workspace and my phone breaking (ahh - four days without phone calls, texts, or pictures), Spooky and I finally finished your June Gift. He sure loves his Baby Lock, and his momma loves that great big hoop. Gave me a little heart attack when I saw him tucked in there lounging on the new quilt block!
The June Gift is meant to celebrate the vintage machines we all treasure, and it also fits perfectly with how I'm feeling these days - has it always been this "ouchy" to get out of bed in the morning?!
I've also noticed that my nose isn't long enough to hold up my glasses anymore - Spooky knows just how I look when I'm trying to read...
And when I'm wearing my contacts, I can't see anything closeup. Sigh. It's taken a while, but I finally admit to needing cheaters. I bought a handful of cute pairs, but I can never find them! I know there's a bunch of you out there that know exactly what I'm talking about.
Spooks and I decided that the extra project included in the June Gift just had to be an eyeglass case. Or more specifically - my cheater readers' case! If they're tucked in a cute spot, I'm sure to know where they are, right? I've made three cases already, and I plan to make more (why not - it's only one hooping). Maybe I'll even hang a case from my neck... with my luck, I'll forget to take it off before going to Piggly Wiggly! Ha! The June Gift includes the Sew Old blocks for the Sew Crazy Quilt, and the Eyeglass Case. It's free with any $10 purchase.
I unpacked all my sweet little dresses and hung them up yesterday - I really am making progress! This one has always been one of my favorites. The dress and handkerchief shown below are from All About Blanks, and both are embellished with my Daisy Cutwork designs.
The lace on the bottom of the dress and around one of the hankies below is from my Daisy Lace set. The flowers and lace are quite simple to make. If you've never tried cutwork, you can learn how to do it here, and you can find a single flower to practice on here.
These dainty daisies can be sewn as regular designs as well - just skip the trimming step! Daisy Cutwork and Daisy Lace are on sale this week.
This year is literally going by at warp speed. June? Great Gravy! What happened to March, April, and May? Those months are a blur in my mind - I guess that's what happens when you buy your first house, sort, pack, and move across the county. I haven't even played golf yet! Speaking of fun summer games, here's a cute little applique for some of the sports fans out there. The June Applique is on sale this week, and I better get on the ball (pun intended) and make something fun for Father's Day!
I hope you have a great week, and thanks so much for patiently waiting for your June Gift! And yes, I did put those glasses on Spooky (although it wouldn't surprise me if he had done it himself). He humored me for a teeny bit - he's such a good sport, then used those sharp little teeth to customize them for me. Hmph. Thanks for reading!
