We've now passed the summer solstice, which means we've unequivocally moved into the new season (as if the warming weather and end of the school year weren't big enough hints...)
I hope it's been treating you and your loved ones well as you may have enjoyed (or are still looking forward to) some well-earned time off. Of course, a belated Happy Father's Day to all the dads and father figures taking in this Monthly Update.
The temperatures aren't the only thing that's been hot in June. Month-to-date many areas of the stock markets have provided outstanding performance, continuing the strong run that equities have experienced so far in 2019.
The results of the upcoming G20 summit in Osaka, Japan may go a long way in determining whether or not this positive momentum continues -
read more about the June markets and what to watch for in the weeks ahead in this month's market news section.
In this month's Articles of Interest - since we've moved into a new season, it's a great time for us to
return to our financial plan for 2019. Take a few moments among the longer summer days to consider several important points about your own finances and make sure you remain in great shape.
Also, the summer edition of Raymond James "Financial Journeys". Consider the need to become a "retiree in training" as you approach the twilight of your career, the do's and don'ts of using technology (particularly online options including social media) to stay in touch with loved ones, and a list of the eldercare specialists that may help you maintain your health and well being in your later years.

The Month That Was - June
|
After suffering through a May malaise, the month of June has (so far) been quite good for the financial markets and kind to us as investors. A US Federal Reserve that seems content to hold interest rates steady (and perhaps cut them in the near future if necessary) and some optimism regarding the trade impasse between the US and China has put several stock market indices at/near all-time highs.
Additionally, you can read the views of several Raymond James thought leaders below:
See Raymond James Chief Investment Officer Larry Adam's most recent reactions to market news in his
Weekly Headings piece.
For a more in-depth analysis of economic data (and in particular the outcome of the Fed's meeting this month), take a look at Chief Economist Dr. Scott Brown's
Monthly Economic Outlook.
Quite a bit has been made about the stand-off between US and China on trade and the ongoing negotiation process between Presidents Trump and Xi. Consider Raymond James' Washington Policy Analyst Ed Mills'
thoughts about the upcoming G20 summit and a potential sit-down between Trump and Xi regarding trade.

Summer is upon us. Coming back to our financial plan for all seasons.![sfp sfp](https://imgssl.constantcontact.com/ui/images1/s.gif)
The temperatures are rising and the days are getting longer.
While we can't beat the summer heat all the time, we can at least turn down financial heat with some proper planning.
Take a look at the summer plan and see if any of the suggestions will help you cross some things off your own financial list (I think the estate planning one is critical!)
And as always, if there's any particular item you'd like some help with, don't hesitate to give me a call or an email so we can discuss it further.

Taking a summer Financial Journey.![sfj sfj](https://imgssl.constantcontact.com/ui/images1/s.gif)
"Financial Journeys" is a quarterly Raymond James publication that addresses a wide breadth of financial and retirement planning issues.
Each edition contains a handful of brief articles that offer insight into financial matters that individuals face at various points within their financial lifetimes.
- The importance of becoming a "retiree in training" before you make that final leap to retirement - the value of thinking about what a fulfilling retirement would look like and the possibility of working part-time to ease the transition,
- How technology can help us stay connected with family, loved ones, and friends, both now and in retirement. Consider some "do's" and "don'ts" as you engage socially online, and
- Become familiar with the eldercare specialists that may make up your critical circle of care - a list of professionals who can help you maintain your health and well-being as you age.
