Mozart might be a little envious…

Great music 24 hours a day? Available at home or when you travel? Live performances and historic recordings, all introduced by informed, engaging hosts? Yes, Mozart would be envious.
WBJC helps make classical music more widely available than at any time in history. Without depending on the wealth of royal patrons.
Midnight, June 30, is the end of our budget year, known as our fiscal year at WBJC, when our community support has to hit an all-important goal. It’s the day we know we have met the financial commitments that allow us to broadcast programs from throughout the world. We are the official station of the Metropolitan Opera and the Lyric Opera of Chicago. And we bring you programming that can only be heard on WBJC:
Face the Music
,
Toccata
,
Music in Maryland
,
Music from Movies
, and others, including
WBJC Listener’s Choice
, the show that you program.
Balancing our budget is a more than a goal, it’s a commitment at WBJC. Being member-supported, we are committed to bringing you classical music 24-hours a day, seven days a week, even while other stations are dropping or reducing their Classical formats.
You’ll help us do something even more important than finish our budget year successfully. You’ll also help WBJC begin our new “music year” on July 1 with solid footing.
Please don’t delay. We depend on member support on June 30, and every day beyond.

The In Series has had an excellent season in artistic director Tim Nelson’s first year, and he closes the season by stage and music directing his own interpretation of Handel’s Serse, which ends its DC run this weekend (June 8-9) at the
Atlas Performing Arts Center
, and comes to
Baltimore Theater Project
June 14-16. I had a chat with Tim about The Tale of Serse, reinterpreting standards, sensitivity where there was once exoticism, and their upcoming season titled Lean In.

Before you head to the dealer, plan to donate your older vehicle to WBJC. Usually the value you'll receive for your donation will meet or exceed what the dealer will offer you as a trade-in and is fully tax-deductible. We also take boats and RVs!
