Can redevelopment help improve Tahoe's clarity?

Decades old and dilapidated developments are harming Lake Tahoe's clarity. Many were built on sensitive lands that acted as pollution filters for the Lake. Private redevelopment can help get rid of these old buildings and parking lots. Read about efforts to improve the processes to replace Tahoe's blight with new environmentally-friendly projects in a new article by the Sacramento Business Journal.

Celebrating 20 years of forest stewardship
Tahoe Forest Stewardship Day

A huge thank you to the 176 volunteers and partners that came out on Saturday to make the 20th annual Tahoe Forest Stewardship Day a success. Together, we released 2,255 young trees from brush, providing them more sunlight to speed up the forest succession. We also restored nearly 5,000 feet of trail, better enabling the community to access and enjoy Tahoe's forests. Healthy forests act as natural pollution filters for Lake Tahoe, and we're lucky to have such dedicated community members to help Keep Tahoe Blue.  See photos from the event here, and watch the video of their work at Tahoe's largest community restoration event.
