Eblen Charities Newsletter: April 27, 2022

April was a busy month at Eblen Charities! We continue to help our neighbors with assistance for housing, utilities and other essential needs like eyeglasses and transportation. We held two events – one in partnership with WLOS to collect coats and winter gear to share with our community later this year, and the other our annual Prom Dress giveaway. We are grateful to WLOS and our partners in this work. April is also Volunteer Appreciation Month – we have the best volunteers, and we are so glad to have their help!

National Volunteer Month!
We are so grateful for the dedicated and kind volunteers that help us serve our community. Whether answering the phones, organizing formal dresses, collecting coats, or helping us publicize our events, we are so happy to have their help!

If you’d like to volunteer with us we are happy to have you join us! We are looking for people to help us answer the phones and door – all that is needed is a friendly nature and the willingness to help. Contact Mary Ann McMinn at [email protected]
10th Annual Operation Prom Dress Giveaway

The 10th Annual Eblen Charities prom dress giveaway took place on Saturday, April 23. This year many girls got to choose a beautiful prom dress, as well as shoes and accessories, thanks to all the generous donations we received. We also want to thank all our friends who helped to promote the event including Star104.3, iHeartradio Asheville, and News13 for their story. This event helps many girls and families in the community that otherwise may not be able to experience the magic of a prom night.

We had such a fun time and had more requests for dresses - so we're doing another giveaway on Wednesday, April 27 from 2:30 - 4:30 at 52 Westgate Parkway.

Proms, formal dances - even weddings - we are here to help with a beautiful dress!

10th Annual Spring Clean Coat Drive at Carolina Furniture Concepts
The 10th Annual News13 WLOS Spring Clean Coat Drive to benefit Eblen Charities took place at Carolina Furniture Concepts in Arden on Friday, April 23rd.

We collected hundreds of coats and winter items as well as donations towards our work.

Thank you to our partners at News13, Carolina Furniture Concepts and to Two Men and a Truck who also packed up the donations and hauled them back to Eblen where they will be given to those in need this winter!
