A MESSAGE

FROM

CHERYL

Good Morning, everyone.

As promised, I’d like to give you some more information about Blue Jeans & Bow Ties (BJ&BT), our fundraiser scheduled for October 23rd.   To date, BJ&BT has been rescheduled 4 times! As a result, the Fundraising Task Force has been working on this for a very long time and has planned a wonderful evening of food, music, and entertainment. There will be music by the band, Destination, down-home comfort food prepared by the Country Club of Ithaca’s Parrilla Restaurant, and theatrical entertainment provided by our Artistic Sponsor for the evening, the Kitchen Theatre Company, who will tell LLH’s story in their trademark “bold, intimate and engaging” way.

You may remember that we had an auction several years ago, when Jerry Dietz honored LLH at his annual Just Be Cause event. That auction was very successful, with a broad range of items and experiences. Our 2021 auction will certainly not disappoint! The task force has already lined up some great items, from artwork, jewelry, and vacation homes, to Green Bay Packer home game tickets and much more.

By scheduling the event for this October, our hope is that the Tompkins County community will be healthy, well and ready to celebrate. While we are all excitedly looking forward to finally bringing everyone together again, we will, of course, continue to monitor the Covid-19 situation very closely in the interim. In the event that we do have to reschedule the fundraiser again, our auction will go ahead online as planned.

So mark your calendars, dust off your dancing shoes, and get ready for a high-energy fun event! In a few short months, we will hopefully all be celebrating together again.

As always, if you need anything or would like to talk, please contact me.

Cheryl

What Our Members Are Saying

“My husband and I moved to Tompkins County several years ago to be close to our daughter and her family. At that time, we didn’t know anyone else in town. We are grateful to have heard about LLH. It was a ready-made, welcoming community of seniors. We got to know people we might not have met otherwise. The programs are interesting and there’s plenty of opportunities to build relationships and make new friends.”
Joyce Holmes McAllister
(January 16, 1931 – March 24, 2021)

Joyce was an LLH member, poet and retired Cornell University administrator. She will be greatly missed.
