Mole Valley Chamber Events & News
26th June 2020
From next Saturday (4 th July) our hairdressing, hospitality and some leisure businesses will be allowed to reopen safely and churches to be used for public worship also. No doubt many will already be preparing for this and reorganising layouts to take account of the one metre plus social distancing arrangements and other new rules.

The Artisan Market reopens in Leatherhead today, and the markets in Dorking and Leatherhead are open for business on their usual days weekly. Please support our local businesses and markets as best you can!

Here is a link to the MVDC website where they have listed everything you could want or need for restarting in one place. The different headings lead to the relevant sections of the advice contained on the website. This link is also on the Home Page of our website. For those looking for signage, screens etc. Chamber Member Kall Kwik Leatherhead has developed a wide range in a number of colour ways. Our videos of the Risk Assessment and Working Safely During Covid-19 and HR Considerations session featured in previous newsletters are still available on our YouTube channel and are being added to weekly.

A reminder from MVDC that every business open should have carried out a Risk Assessment and completed and be displaying the blue Staying Covid-19 Secure in 2020 notice prominently on a door or window.

The Council engaged The Retail Group, retail and consumer management consultants, to run three webinars and provide free 1:1 support sessions for retailers on a first come first served basis. One session remains, on 2nd July - find out more here .

If you are looking to claim a Discretionary Grant the deadline in Mole Valley is 30 th June- details of eligibility for this have been released by MVDC and for any business that was ineligible for either of the £10,000 or £25,000 grants it is well worth looking at here .

On Wednesday 24 th June we ha d another ‘Virtual Coffee’ - Restart Your Business Session 5 : Kick-start your Website and Digital Marketing especially in these alternative times . We were treated to an excellent presentation followed with a Q&A session by Alex Ramsden of Web Motivation . The video is available on our YouTube channel.

Our next Virtual Coffee session on 1st July will be Restart Your Business session 6: Get Ahead- Take The Insights Track , led by Sophie Carr of Bays Consulting . The last few months have been a steep learning curve for everyone. Just as fatigue is setting in, it’s all change as the high street starts to re-open. Regardless of whether your business operates online, from a shop or a mixture of both now is not a time to second guess how to take your business forwards. Instead carry on learning and join Sophie as she shows you simple approaches to leveraging the full value of the sales data you’ve collected. She’ll remove the fear from data analysis (it certainly doesn’t need a PhD in statistics….) and all the tips will be able to be created in Excel. You’ll leave with practical approaches to understand how data can support your business decisions and the confidence to put them into practice.

Also on July 1st at 6.45 for 7.00pm, Sophie and I will run the next The Not a Pub Quiz , full of fun with questions set by Sophie, who won our first Quiz!

We have re-launched our page promoting offers by our Members, so if you have an offer out there or wish to promote something special please do send details to Kerry-Anne . We are also now publicising job opportunities for Chamber Members, including The Grange Centre , so please let us have any other sits vacant too!

Finally, please do promote the benefits of joining the Chamber to your business colleagues and customers. If you have a window which needs one of our posters and a membership sticker do let us know, and we have flyers as well for anyone in a position to deliver some.
Remember this is all about building the strongest possible business community to move forward together as we all come out of the current difficulties and likely recession!

Stay safe and well, shop locally and let’s hope for some more good weather!
