#4 Women United's Power of the Purse raises $51,000 to Invest in Community

Two signed Taylor Swift guitars, luxury purses, the Golden Ticket, and amazing King of Pursonality packages all contributed to a successful 2024 fundraiser!

This year's event was held at the Jefferson Street Inn on Thursday, June 6 and raised $51,000. United Way's Women United will use those funds to invest in the community through community grants that increase the self-sufficiency of women to improve their lives, the lives of their families, and the community as a whole.

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, or donated!

#5 Meet Our New Community Impact Associate - Nikki Shackelford

Meet our new Community Impact Associate Nikki Shackelford!

Hello! My name is Nikki and I’m so happy to be joining United Way as a Community Impact Associate. I’m originally from Oklahoma, lived in Fort Worth, Texas for a minute, then moved to Madison, Wis. where I lived for almost 20 years.

I previously owned a dog hiking and training business servicing the Madison area. I built it from the ground up and loved it with all my heart. However, business ownership just wasn’t for me.

I am pleased to say my work with dogs also made me want to get back into working with humans and our current socio-economic situation fuels my desire to be part of a community working to take care of each other. I look forward to joining this community and seeing what we do together!!
