Yard Waste Began March 25
Yard waste is collected weekly the same day as your normal household rubbish is collected.

Yard waste includes leaves, lawn cuttings, and shrub and tree trimmings. Yard waste must be placed in biodegradable bags or containers of 35 gallons or less that are marked "yard waste".

Reporting Potholes
Michigan's seasonal freeze-thaw cycles create the perfect conditions for potholes to form after snow and ice has melted. Moisture seeps into the pavement, freezes, expands and thaws, creating a gap in the pavement. As vehicles drive over the gap, the pavement weakens leading to a pothole.

We want to make reporting them easy for you, but there are two things to remember.

  1. Wayne County maintained roads are Outer Drive, Fort St, Southfield Rd, and Dix Hwy. Please report potholes on those roads to Wayne County or via the County Hotline at 1-888-762-3273
  2. For state roads (I-75), potholes can be reported online on the Michigan Department of Transportation website.
  3. For City maintained roads, please report local potholes here or call DPS at 313-386-9000 ext.2704
Spring & Summer Happenings; Hot Off The Press
The Happenings is a quarterly comprehensive newsletter that includes upcoming community events, activities, and more is now available on our website.

Included in this newsletter is a brief letter from the Mayor updating residents on what we have accomplished in the past few months and what to expect and look forward to in the coming months.

Each home will receive their own mailed copy of this newsletter. But for those who want an early preview can view it now online.

DPS Tree Removal PSA
The trees that are located in the easement area of the property (between the sidewalk and the street) are the City of Lincoln Parks responsibility. If you have a tree in this easement area that you believe may be dead or dangerous, please contact the DPS at 313-386-9000. An employee of the DPS will inspect the tree and determine the appropriate action to be taken.

The City will not remove healthy trees, even if it is causing the sidewalk to lift. The sidewalks are the homeowners responsibility to maintain. If a homeowner has a tree on private property they would like to have removed, a permit must be obtained through the DPS. Permits are free of charge and are to ensure the Contractor is properly licensed, insured and bonded.
Automatic Withdrawal Now Available
The City of Lincoln Park is happy to offer residents automatic withdrawal of their water payments, right from your checking or savings account.

This service comes at no additional cost and will save you time, effort, and money. Enrolling is simple can be completed in just a few minutes.
What You Can Do About Storm Drains
Spring is nearly here! As the days get longer and the weather warmer, many of us are starting to plan our own property maintenance plans. As part of that plan, consider including cleaning nearby storm drains of debris that may have collected during the winter months? Your efforts in helping to keep pollution from entering our waterways and minimizing the impact on our infrastructure will help everyone.

During your regular spring yard maintenance, also consider the following information. During rain events, water will pick up excess lawn fertilizer, oil from cars, and other pollutants and deposit it into our storm drains. These pipes then lead into the nearest steams or lakes.

Consider the following to minimize our impact on our system and the environment
  • Sweep excess fertilizer, yard clippings, and dirt on your driveway back onto your lawn. Hosing down your driveway sends these items into the storm drains.
  • Never dump motor oil, chemicals, pet waste, leaves or anything else down the storm drain.
