COSA Meeting
Stress Trauma and Resilience
April 24
Kristal Cleaver, LICSW will join us to discuss CSO's STaR (Stress, Trauma & Resilience) project and the work she and other are doing in the community to build awareness about the effects of stress and trauma on the bodies and brains of young people. She will also discuss how we can all play a role in helping to counter the effects of these adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and build resilience and hope for children and families. The talk will include several short clips from the documentary "Resilience."

COSA 4th Annual
Provider's Fair
Register for a Table!
The annual Provider's Fair is coming up on May 24th. Members are invited to bring information about their organizations to share with one another. You will be provided with a table and two chairs, and you bring the information and supplies to bring your work to life. This is a fabulous morning of networking, and we encourage you to make sure your organization is represented. There is no charge to participate.
Non-member agencies are also welcome to join us. There is a $35 fee for a table which can be applied toward a membership if you choose to join COSA after the Fair.

Conversations about Systemic Oppression
The Western Massachusetts Recovery Learning Community and the Consortium's Home & Community Connections program have come together to create a 2018 Anti-Oppression Series. The purpose of this series is to bring our community together to explore issues of oppression and help spark the fires needed for change.
In this series opener, we will feature three panelists speaking from first-hand experience of a variety of types of systemic oppression. They will share of their lives and of the wisdom they've gained about how to move difficult conversations and change forward. Community Dialogue will follow their presentations.
Featuring Rev. Louis Mitchell, Caroline Mazel-Carlton, and Shain M. Neumeier.

Design Engagement
Exhibit
The exhibition, "Design Engagement," highlights the work of Joseph Krupczynski, an Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture, and the Director of the office of Civic Engagement and Service Learning (CESL) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. As a designer and public artist, Krupczynski's work links design, art and culture through participatory art/design platforms that promote imaginative community partnerships-especially in collaboration with underrepresented communities.

Join us for a public talk with activist, scholar, and theorist Kali Akuno, the co-founder and co-director of Cooperation Jackson, a network of worker cooperatives in Jackson, Mississippi. He is a longtime organizer with the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement. His new book is titled Jackson Rising: The Struggle for Economic Democracy and Black Self-Determination in Jackson, Mississippi.
