Kids Career Fair was a SUCCESS!
|
|
The first annual Kids Career Fair was a huge success! More than 40 organizations, as well as many MCCTC/Valley STEM programs, were represented on Saturday, February 18th. Kids of all ages were able to spend time going from table to table hearing all about the different careers out there!
A special thank you to City Machine Technologies Inc. and OH WOW! for their partnership with this event!

Congrats to Hospitality/JTC teacher, Christl DeNiro, on being named “staff member of the month”! Mrs. DeNiro is an amazing instructor that always goes above and beyond for her students! This year she has started the morning cafe which provides coffee, lattes, HOMEMADE pastries, and much more! MCCTC and Valley STEM are so lucky to have her!

This week I had some enlightening visits to several CTE Programs!
In Creative Arts & Design, Ms. Hackett’s students were working on their creative resumes, learning how to mount, and mixing three colors to create as many skin tones as possible.
In Electricity with Mr. Cooper, we learned about how the bidding process works, starting with reading floor plans and determining total cost of materials and labor. The bidding process is highly competitive, and involves a great deal of skill to master.

In Mr. Danes's Government classes have looked at the U.S. government's responses during the height of The Cold War and the arms race and how the threat of nuclear war caused many to build fallout shelters. Students built their hypothetical shelters, with a list of supplies, food items, rules for the shelter, and also learned how to draw and create floor plans.
