Every day, decisions are being made in Lansing that directly impact your ability to care for patients, lead healthcare teams, and practice medicine in Michigan.
The Michigan Osteopathic Political Action Committee (MOPAC) exists to ensure that the osteopathic profession has a seat at the table when those decisions are made. Through strategic advocacy and support of physician-friendly candidates, MOPAC helps protect the interests of Michigan physicians and the patients we serve.
Today, we face several critical legislative issues that will shape the future of healthcare in our state:
SB 268 and HB 4399 would dramatically expand the scope of practice of nurse practitioners · MOA Opposes
HB 5522 would modify the practice agreement and change physician led clinical team · MOA Opposes
HB 5313 reduces licensure requirement of 150 CME hours to 75 hours MOA Opposes
| | | |
Interstate Medical Licensure Compact ( P.A. 6 of 2026) Michigan rejoins the compact · MOA Supported
Michigan for Vaccines newly established coalition of providers and public health officials to educate on the efficacy of vaccinations · MOA is a founding member
To effectively advocate on behalf of Michigan's osteopathic profession, MOPAC has set an ambitious goal of raising $50,000 by July 15.
This is more than a fundraising goal—it is a demonstration of the strength and unity of our profession.

Community Health Workers (CHWs) are often thought of as staff allocated for short-term initiatives, grants, or public health programs. Changes in Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial payer reimbursement have created new opportunities for physicians, especially for those in primary care, to integrate CHWs into care teams, generating sustainable revenue, improving quality metrics, and reducing care team burden. The question is no longer whether practices can afford to employ CHWs but whether they can afford not to.
This month (part one of a two-part series), we begin by exploring CHW roles and revenue opportunities across payers.
