| | NSPE Student Scholarship Opportunities - Apply by April 15 | | | | |
Scholarship opportunities are available from the NSPE Education Foundation through an online submission platform.
The application deadline is April 15, 2026.

Undergraduate Opportunities
The Steinman Scholarship is awarded to undergraduates entering or continuing their junior year in a four-year ABET-accredited engineering program. The award is for $5,000 and five (5) scholarships will be awarded.
The Auxiliary Legacy Scholarship is awarded to a female undergraduate entering or continuing their junior year of a four-year ABET-accredited engineering program. Multiple awards are potentially available. The award is for $5,000 and two (2) scholarships will be awarded.
Graduate, Undergraduate Opportunities
The George B. Hightower, P.E. Fellowship is awarded to a current engineering undergraduate or graduate student who is enrolled in, or graduated from, an ABET-accredited engineering program. The award is for $3,000 and two (2) scholarships will be awarded.
| | Four Mathletes Advance to MATHCOUNTS National Competition Following State Contest on March 7 | | |
115 student mathletes from 42 middle schools across Massachusetts competed at the 2026 MATHCOUNTS State Competition on March 7 for the opportunitiy to represent our state at the National MATHCOUNTS compeition on May 10-11 in Orlando, FL.
The event was the culmination of months-long preparation leading up to seven state-wide chapter competitions in January and February, in which nearly 800 middle school students from 120 schools competed for seats at the State Competition.
The winners will defend our state's FIRST PLACE NATIONAL TITLE, earned last May.

| | The team will be accompanied by MATHCOUNTS State Director John Hayden, PE and coached once again by Josh Frost of Jonas Clarke Middle School, now in his 26th year of coaching for MA MATHCOUNTS. | | Mathletes at the State Competition, hosted by Stantec Consulting Services | | The State Competition began with a Sprint Round, in which Mathletes had 40 minutes to finish 30 math problems without a calculator. Next was the Target Round, consisting of four pairs of problems that each had to be completed in six minutes with calculator assistance. Next was the Team Round, when the 20 Official Schools formed 4 student teams in which they worked cooperatively to complete 10 questions in 20 minutes. Finally, the Countdown Round featured direct competition in which students buzzed in their answers like a game show. (At the national level, this round determines the championship winner, but at the state level, it is for practice and fun.) | | Students and Coaches await the exciting Countdown Round at the State Competition | | Learn more about Massachusetts MATHCOUNTS, including our state's first place finish at the National Competition in May 2025, as well as simple ways that you and/or your firm or team can share your support to maintain this vital program in our state.

Board of Ethical Review: Spring 2026 Case Review and Discussion

SUMMARY: Every year, the NSPE Board of Ethical Review (BER) publishes opinions involving a variety of ethical topics related to the practice of engineering. This year, the Board has released four new case studies that address emerging ethical challenges faced by professional engineers in practice. The cases cover a diverse range of topics, including artificial intelligence, community outreach, and sustainability. Each case provides a nuanced analysis of the ethical dilemmas involved, along with recommendations grounded in the NSPE Code of Ethics. These resources are particularly valuable for professional engineers, students, and educators who wish to stay ahead of evolving ethical issues.
