Love is in the air... We LOVE to see our young alums make honor roll AND we LOVE to receive the news that our older alumni are getting married!
February 2018

Happy Belated Valentine's Day! Love is in the air, or at least in the Ruppert and Lawrence air. Below you'll read about a few alumni weddings.

Our young alumni continue to make us "older" alumni proud! Many young alums are ranking among the best students in their respective high schools. Check out who made the lists!

One more thing, if you haven't already made St. Patrick's Day plans, consider attending this year's fundraising dinner,   ShamRockin' for Mother Seton School!

It will be held on Saturday, March 17 at the Links in Gettysburg. I attended last year and it was a great evening!

Keep sending us your alumni news!

Kate Marshall
MSS Class of 1969
Carrie Ruppert '07

On March 18, 2017, Carrie (MSS 2007) and Samuel Martins were married at St. Anthony's Shrine in Emmitsburg. Carrie, who double-majored in Spanish and Political Science, is a 2015 graduate of the University of Delaware. Until this past March, she was working in Brazil. Carrie and Sam now live in State College, PA, and both are employed by Penn State, where Carrie works as a Global Programs Sponsored Relations Coordinator. Jennifer Wivell Parkhurst (MSS 2007) and Carrie's brother Sam Ruppert (MSS 2009) were both members of the wedding party.
Sam Ruppert '09

Sam Ruppert (MSS 2009) was young, very young, when he first met his bride-to-be: a kindergartener, to be exact! Sam and Virginia (Ginny) McElwain became besties when they met in kindergarten at MSS. Ginny attended MSS from Kindergarten thru second grade, when her family moved away from the area. Fast forward some two decades later, and there were Sam and Ginny, walking down the aisle at St. Anthony's where they were married on June 24, 2017. Garrett Williams (MSS 2010), Jessica McElwain (MSS grades 2 through 4) and Patrick McElwain (MSS grades 1 through 3) were all members of the wedding party. Sam graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in May of 2017 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army. Sam was awarded the prestigious Marshall Scholarship for graduate study in London, where he and Ginny are now living while they both work on their master's degrees.

Ryan Lawrence '92

Ryan Lawrence (MSS 1992) ventured to sunny Pompano Beach, FL to marry Christina Armer. The happy couple is living in Westminster where Ryan works at the Service Manager for Win Kelly Chevrolet.

(l-r) Rich Frazier, Christina and Ryan, Debbie Frazier (mom), Phillip Lawrence (MSS 1996) and Adam Weller. Many alumni remember Ms. Debbie who continues to be the MSS Cafeteria Manager, a job she has done for 32 years!

Congratulations, Ryan and Christina!
Matthew Nield '11

Congratulations to Matthew Nield (MSS 2011), who was recently inducted into Delta Mu Delta, the Business Honor Society. Matthew is a junior at the Mount, majoring in Accounting with a minor in Computer Science and Business.

Marshall Mott '17

Marshall Mott (MSS 2017) is a freshman at Gettysburg High School and his high school career is off to a great start. Not only has he made honor roll both quarters, but he is one of six student selected to receive the North Star award. The "North Star" refers to the direction in which the school encourages all students to aim, by honoring students who demonstrate excellence in character and serve as role models for other students.
