Spring has sprung in Emmitsburg. The students just completed their annual Walk-a-thon around the grounds of MSS and the Seton Shrine walking a whopping total of
1,772 miles to raise funds for a Daughters of Charity Mission in Gramsh, Albania (servicing the poor), The Catoctin Pregnancy Center in Emmitsburg, and MSS Friends in Need. It's great to see our alma mater continuing to instill the value of giving back to others, just like it did for all of us
We have some wonderful alumni news to share, especially regarding a few of our alumni athletes. We also have an update on one of our alumni families, the Williams family, who had all seven of their children attend MSS and now have members of the next generation at MSS.
Don't forget that the annual MSS Carnival is right around the corner-- May 21 through May 26. It's a great event to catch up with friends, many of whom come back to volunteer at the various MSS stands. Monday, May 21st is MSS Alumni Night. Check in at the MSS Raffle table and get a free alumni gift!
We look forward to seeing you there!
MSS Class of 1969
|Catching up with the Williams Family
All seven of the children of Prof. John and Mrs. Marian Williams attended Mother Seton School. Today, three of their grandchildren are following in those footsteps as students at MSS. I recently had a chance to catch up with Mrs. Williams and find out what her family is doing these days.
Anne (MSS 1973), is a Pharmaceutical representative, and the mother of Courtney. Courtney is the mother of Ella, a kindergartner at MSS, and Jack, 3 years old.
Mark (MSS 1974) works for Omni Corp, a contractor for FEMA. He lives in Frederick and is the father of Mackenzie, currently a student at Towson University.
Kate (MSS 1975) lives in Phoenixville, PA. She is the Assistant Director of Academic Support Services at Immaculata University, in their College of Life Long Learning. She is the mother of three sons, Jonathan, Collin and Brendan.
Sarah (MSS 1977) retired from her career as a legal secretary and currently resides with her husband Dennis in Leonardtown, MD.
Elisabeth (MSS 1978) and her family recently moved from Frederick County to Florida. She is a Regional Vice-President for Wells Fargo. She has three children, Ian, Sean and Colleen. Ian graduated from Shepherd University in West Virginia and is an athletic trainer and certified personal trainer, Sean graduated this month from Shepherd with a degree in sports marketing and Colleen attends High Point University.
Chad, (MSS 1980) was married to Lisa Cumo and was a sports performance coach, certified personal trainer and massage therapist prior to his untimely death in 2010.
Both Elizabeth and Chad attended Mother Seton through elementary school, but transferred to Thurmont Middle School when the family moved.
Megan (MSS 1992) is employed by the Frederick County Public School System as a secretary at Walkersville Middle School. She has two children at Mother Seton School, Jameson, Grade 7 and Eva, Grade 2.
Mrs. Williams credits Mother Seton for providing all her children with a strong education, and noted that in particular, the school encouraged and nurtured excellent reading and grammar skills. Even more importantly, she appreciated how Mother Seton reinforced family values, such as faith, honesty and personal integrity. At MSS, these remain the values and skills that we strive to develop in all our students in order for them to be well-prepared both academically and spiritually for wherever their lives may take them.
