Truth Decay:
Risk of Truth Telling in a Post-Truth Era
Reverend Mary Ann Macklin
" Risk anything! Care no more for the opinion of others...Do the hardest thing on earth for you. Act for yourself. Face the truth." ( Journal entry, 14 October 1922) -- Katherine Mansfield   Journal of Katherine Mansfield
Is the truth such an individual effort as Mansfield suggests?  What is truth within community?  How do present day saints, our poets, bring us closer to the truth?
This Sunday in Religious Education
This Sunday in Religious Education our kids in preschool-8th grade will all be together.  Monroe County Humane Association will bring some animal visitors for us and we will create dog toys for use at the local shelter. We will also bag up food for Basic to Basics pet food pantry. We hope we'll see your family if you are in town.  Middle schoolers are not meeting this week but will resume on March 26th!  High school youth group will be making and delivering cookies to people in our church.
Bloomingfoods Cards Available Again!
Bloomingfoods has been restructuring their procedures for making grocery cards available to us. During that time, we have not had Bloomingfoods cards to sell. We have learned of the new procedures and expect to have Bloomingfoods cards available for sale again this Sunday. Look for the grocery card sales table in the Commons between services.
Want to send a message to our US senators about healthcare reform?
UUs across the country are writing letters on healthcare to their U.S. Senators to be personally hand-delivered to Capitol Hill offices by participants in the April 3-5 conference, "Reversing Inequality: Healthcare Justice is a UU Value." If you would like to write a message on healthcare justice for hand-delivering to Senator Joe Donnelly or Senator Todd Young, stop by the postcard-writing and letter-writing table in the Commons on Sunday, March 19. If you don't have time to do this on Sunday, you can write your letter this week and bring it to the church office by March 29 and we'll mail them on March 30. Questions? Contact David Keppel, Keppel@sbcglobal.net Here is a link to a sample letter and talking points:   http://bit.ly/2mArcVf.
