Partnership Brings Expertise to Peer Group Discussion
|
The Nonprofit Network partners with
CLA
(CliftonLarsonAllen) to provide the CFO/Finance Peer Group with various learning opportunities throughout the year regarding nonprofit financial topics. In February, CLA presented information about accounting standards for Revenue Recognition including grants and contracts which take effect at the end of 2019.
If you know an expert that you think should visit one of our five peer groups, please get in touch and share your ideas. I also enjoy hearing your suggestions for potential topics at peer group discussions or other learning opportunities.
Stay connected,
Carrie Walker, Nonprofit Network Manager

Community Foundation Appoints Program Officer and Announces First Grant Opportunity for Creating Safe, Equitable and Thriving Communities Fund
The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation has appointed Rachel Rockwell as Program Officer to facilitate the grantmaking from the Creating Safe, Equitable and Thriving (SET) Communities Fund. The fund was established in October 2018 in partnership with the City of Cedar Rapids, Linn County, and the Cedar Rapids Community School District. The purpose is to address the inter-relational factors that lead to youth violence in Cedar Rapids as identified by the SET Task Force.
The first grant opportunity deadline will be on March 27, 2019, for summer programming. A total of $40,000 will be available for programming offered in the summer of 2019 with the goal of funding six to eight projects. Funding is available to organizations and community groups with programming that cultivates, engages, and/or connects with youth and young adults who are disproportionately exposed to violence in their homes, neighborhoods, and schools, and who might not otherwise participate in summer programming.
