Five Year Financial Plan 2024-2028

Council approved the 2024-2028 Financial Plan at its February 21, 2024, regular Council meeting. The District of Lantzville 2024-2028 Financial Plan Bylaw No. 360, 2023 can be viewed on the District’s website. 

Have Your Say

Members of the public who wish to provide input regarding Council meeting agenda items can submit written comments by email to district@lantzville.ca, mail or drop off at Municipal Hall, and MUST be received before 12:00 noon on the Council meeting date, providing your name, civic address, agenda item number/name, and comment. Council does not accept anonymous submissions (this includes e-mails with an e-mail address only). All written submissions, including names and addresses, will become part of the public record, be shared with Council, and posted at lantzville.ca.

Lantzville Community Facilities

• Check out the Seaside Community Society Movie Night featuring Elemental. Doors open on March 8^th at 5:45 pm and the movie starts at 6:00 pm. Admission by donation and there is a small, cash-only concession. Please feel free to wear your PJ's and bring something more comfortable to sit on.

Regional District of Nanaimo

• Stay active every day. There are still spots available for spring programs. Plus, you can sign up for summer programs starting May 14^th. Hop online to www.rdn.bc.ca/recreation and register today.

• Be the first to receive online access to the summer programs by subscribing to REC Connect at www.getinvolved.rdn.ca/rec-connect.

• Ravensong Aquatic Centre in Qualicum Beach and Oceanside Place Arena in Parksville are hosting a variety of Everyone Welcome Swims and Skates during the spring break. View all the public swim and skate times online at www.rdn.bc.ca/recreation.

City of Nanaimo

• Registration for spring and summer programs with Parks, Recreation and Culture begins on Wednesday, March 6^th. Meanwhile, check out the many programs still available at www.nanaimo.ca/ActivityGuide/

• Nanaimo Harbour City Seniors has many programs available for adults 60+. The next event in the North End of Nanaimo is on March 21^st from 9:30 am-1:00 pm. There is something for everyone and every ability level. Watch Your Speed, Please!

Help keep our streets and rights-of-way safe

Planning to plant a hedge or garden bed in your front yard? Check your property lines, then plant it well back from the walkway and consider slower growing plants that you can easily maintain. The trees, hedges and gardens that you plant on your property along municipal streets enhance the beauty of our community. The District needs your help to make sure vegetation is maintained to allow people to walk by safely, and to ensure cyclists and drivers have a clear view at intersection sightlines. If your trees, hedges or gardens overtake the road or walkway, or obstruct visibility, it creates a safety hazard – and it is a bylaw offence. It’s always the District’s goal to work in cooperation with residents with public safety as a priority, but to reduce the need for staff to issue a warning or reminder – please maintain or remove your vegetation.

Speed limits keep our neighbourhood safe

The speed limit on streets in Lantzville is 50 km/h except when posted otherwise, e.g. portion of Lantzville Road from past Ware Road to near Sabrina is 30 km/h. Remember to SLOW DOWN in residential areas and near school zones, crosswalks, and posted Children Playing signs. Use caution when driving, but especially during Spring Break (March 9^th-24^th), and in school zones when children return to school. When school is in session, a 30 km/h school zone speed limit is in effect from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm every school day.

Spring Ahead & Check Your Smoke Alarms!

When you set your clock to spring forward (2:00 am, Sunday, March 10^th) by 1 hour, check your smoke alarms and change worn devices and batteries right away. Every home in BC is required by law to have a working smoke alarm. Test your smoke alarms at least once a month using the test button and maintain and replace following the manufacturer’s instructions.
