Last month, 4-C published the 2025 Wages and Workforce Report. This report analyzes data reported by child care providers in the Business and Information Form (BIF) to help create a broader understanding of trends in child care centers' wages, staff turnover, and capacity. Thank you to those who completed the BIF to contribute to this data!
What are some insights from this data?
Overall, group child care centers are operating, on average, at 70% of their licensed capacity. Survey results indicate that staffing challenges are the primary factor limiting enrollment, cited by 69% of programs.
Child care providers continue to report long waitlists, especially infant and toddler care, where openings are limited, and the demand is high.
Staff turnover continues to affect child care programs, reinforcing the need to advocate for and strengthening the early childhood workforce.
