As I write this President’s message, I am recovering from March 14 (3.14 or Pi Day – yes, I had slices of three different pies) and thinking about all the things that will happen in the weeks ahead.

National Land Surveyors Week starts March 21. Our Legislative Advocate, Mike Belote, has been pursuing a resolution from the California legislature.  As soon as it is signed, it will be distributed to Chapters throughout the state. In years past, the resolution was something to proudly display in the lobby of office buildings to help bring recognition to the profession. I hope Chapters throughout the state have pursued similar recognition from your local governing bodies. This activity not only informs the public of the importance of land surveying, but also reminds the governing body of the importance of the profession, particularly in these times of budget challenges and changing priorities.

The annual CLSA Conference, this year the “Western Regional Virtual Survey Conference” begins March 27, 2021 and runs through March 30. Again, we are going virtual this year. Speakers are loading their presentation materials so attendees can get a jump on preparing for the discussions. Most of the sessions will be recorded, and available for attendees to watch or re-watch through August 31, 2021. Although the early bird discount deadline has passed, deep discounts are still available to CLSA members. As was mentioned in previous communications, this year we are teamed up with Alaska, Arizona, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, and Washington.
Please be sure to use the conference application to schedule your session attendance and set up meetings with our sponsors.

This will be a great opportunity to learn, share ideas and network with professionals from all over the Western U.S. In addition to the fantastic educational sessions, there will be presentations and equipment demonstrations by our sponsors, and virtual happy hour social events in the evenings. Just because we can’t be together, doesn’t mean we can’t have fun!

I encourage you to attend, and I ask that you encourage others to join CLSA and attend this conference as well. Your participation could help improve the profession for decades!

I would be remiss if I did not recognize the efforts of the Conference Committee and our representatives Rich Maher and Kim Oreno. Without their guidance and contributions, this event would not be as successful.

Keep yourself and your people safe.

RWR & J.J. Yeley partner with CLSA member Trent Keenan's Diamondback Land Surveying for Unique Branding & Positive Awareness of the Land Surveying Profession
Rick Ware Racing and Diamondback Land Surveying are proud to announce a partnership with the No. 17 NASCAR Xfinity Series team with driver J.J. Yeley this weekend for the Call 811 Before You Dig 200 at Phoenix Raceway, Saturday March 13th 5:30 ET on FS1.

The partnership with J.J. Yeley and Diamondback Land Surveying will last throughout the year on social media and other events to raise awareness and to inspire future geospatial experts by getting kids into surveying.
“We are excited to be a part of this program and showcase what Diamondback Land Surveying is doing to bring young people into the exciting world of survey and to raise awareness of a very important industry that has a growing need for future Surveyors. The paint scheme on the No. 17 Diamondback Land Surveying Chevy Camaro has to be one of my all-time favorites and sure to grab the attention of every kid watching,” said J.J. Yeley.

“We couldn’t be more excited about this partnership with the No. 17 Xfinity Series team and driver J.J. Yeley. Our company goals remain the same: unique branding and bringing positive awareness to the land surveying profession. This new partnership and paint scheme help us accomplish both! We’re very impressed and look forward to a successful season for us all.” Said Trent Keenan, owner and founder of Diamondback Land Surveying.

“We are excited to have Diamondback Land Survey on board the No. 17 this weekend at Phoenix Raceway,” commented team owner, Rick Ware. “Having a partner in the sport that actively encourages our youth to get involved and learn new skills, is always a great opportunity for our team and NASCAR.”
