Amberley Green Clubhouse Demolition
Project Now Underway
| |
|
If you've been to Amberley Green lately, you'll have noticed the chain link fencing around the former Crest Hills Clubhouse (see above). You may have even noticed that vegetation and debris have been removed from around the building (at left). These are the first stages of the Amberley Green Clubhouse Demolition project now underway.
In a recent letter to residents, Village Manager Scot Lahrmer outlined the timeline and scope of
| |
|
the project, as well as what to expect during the demolition process. He also highlighted the cost-savings to the Village, which secured over 92% of the cost of the project via Hamilton County grants. Key takeaways regarding the project are presented below, and a copy of the letter is accessible in its entirety via the button at the article's end.
Project Highlights
- Timeline is approximately 6 weeks
- Amberley Green remains open for use
- Possible debris may be airborne during the demolition, but poses no threat to the environment
- All materials will be taken off-site for disposal
- Please exercise patience entering and exiting Amberley Green, and anticipate increased traffic during construction
- Damage to the parking lot is expected, and will be repaired after the project is complete
- Questions/Concerns? Contact cfritsch@amberleyvillage.org

"Slam the Scam" Day: Thursday, March 6
Thursday, March 6 has been designated "Slam the Scam" Day by the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The promotion is part of the FTC's 2025 Consumer Protection Week, which runs from March 2-8. There is an ever-growing number of scam types of which to be aware. Amberley Village works closely with other municipal, state and federal agencies to ensure your safety as a resident. As part of the Village's proactive approach to community policing, we're including important resources for recognizing and preventing scams, and where to report them in the unfortunate event of a scam below.
Residents can also contact the Amberley Village Police Department at 513-531-2040 to report a scam and to request direction on next steps if you are a victim of fraud. In addition, the short video below was prepared by the U.S. Social Security Administration in conjunction with the FTC to help identify different types of scams, notice red flags, and report suspicious events.

Amberley Village Alert System Update
|
|
To date, more than 1/3 of the Village households can now be reached via the Alert System. However, many households can still only be reached by landline. Our goal is to be able to connect with residents via email, text or cell phone in the event of an emergency so they can remain informed no matter where they are. Here are a few friendly reminders:
If you are already signed up for Smart911, simply log in to your current account and click on "Municipal Alerts" as shown in the graphic below. Use the check boxes to indicate how you would like to receive alerts.
| |
|
If you are not already registered, click on the "Sign Up Now!" button below, and follow the registration prompts. You will also need to select "Municipal Alerts" and indicate your preferences.
Not sure if you're registered? Try entering your email address on the sign up page and click on "Forgot Password." The system will indicate if your address is not found. If you are in the system, it will send a reset email to enable you to update your password for access.
Thanks again for your patience as we work to expand communications with our residents!

Reporting Potholes & Snowplow Damage
|
Amberley Village residents' firsthand knowledge of road conditions is an invaluable part of the repair process. By reporting potholes or damaged road surfaces, you play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and quality of our infrastructure. Your reports help our Maintenance Department identify potholes quickly and prioritize repair, keeping the roads safer and preventing further damage.
If you are aware of an open pothole or other snowplow damage to the roadway, downspouts, mailboxes or yards, contact Amberley Village Administration at 513-531-8675, or after hours calls Dispatch at 513-531-2040. Residents may also contact our Citizen Action Line via the link below. Thanks for being our partner in ensuring the safety of all motorists through the Village!

Forest Bathing Returns April 6!
|
Forest Bathing is a mindfulness process of experiencing forests and wooded parks, using the 5 senses to benefit physical and mental health. Substantial scientific research has demonstrated that the benefits are sustained when practiced regularly. No worries - no actual bathing is involved!
Participants will deepen their appreciation and understanding of the importance of trees to our health and survival. The participants will develop the skills and motivation to take a Forest Bathing walk on their own!
Our Guide is Amberley Village resident Joyce DeVoge, who received a level one certification in the Ecotherapy practices that are essentially identical to the original Forest Bathing methods developed in Japan, referred to as shinrin-yoku. Joyce is a professional counselor with a practice in the Cincinnati area.
The program will be held rain or shine. Upon registration, participants will receive meeting location and background reading information.

Coyotes are here to stay, and we have to coexist with them. This time of year is definitely the most visible and aggressive for the coyote population in Amberley Village, as they are hungry and young males are wandering looking for a mate.
Below are some tips to make this cohabitation a bit safer for you and your pets:
- Do not feed deer; the increase in proximity of our homes to the deer population increases the risk of coyote proximity as well
- Residents may hire a trapper for their own property, however, they must be state certified and hold an Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) permit (search online for "wildlife control")
- Take the time to learn more about coyote habits and habitat to avoid unintentionally attracting them to your property via articles such as those posted below
| |
- Monitor pets while outside, especially smaller pets, and keep close tabs on all pets around dusk and at nighttime
- Report coyote sightings to the Village via the Amberley Village website Citizen Action Line page (or via the button below) to assist staff in monitoring activity
- Please note that Amberley Village does not trap on any properties as a precaution against trapping resident pets

Human Rights Commission Do's & Don'ts
|
|
Amberley Village residents are fortunate to live in a respectful community. However, many of us often feel nervous about saying the wrong thing or unintentionally offending someone. Amberley Village Human Rights Commission (HRC) has compiled a list that just might help!
The Commission has compiled some tips which, according to the American Psychological Association, can improve communications around diversity by seeking to be more inclusive by utilizing "person-first" language. "Person-first" language places emphasis on the person vs. the disability.
Check out a sampling below. For the full list, visit our website via the "Learn More" button!

Amberley Village is committed to keeping lines of communication open and accessible between residents and government officials. In this spirit, Amberley Village has incorporated Village-issued email addresses for Councilmembers into its digital communications protocol.
These measures unify the format, making it easier for residents to send a message when an issue comes to mind. The member's first initial followed by last name (no space) @amberleyvillage.org will get your message on its way to members of the Amberley Village Council.
Even easier, visit our website and just click on the links to reach your elected officials!
