Grateful for Hamilton County's Support

Pictured is CRITI's team and Board Members who gathered at the courthouse to attend the Hamilton County Commission meeting.

We are deeply thankful to the Hamilton County Commission and Mayor for their support in approving the transfer of 3.5 acres of land to Chattanooga Room in the Inn. This marks an important step as we enter a planning study to explore expansion and assess how we can best serve women and children experiencing homelessness.

Our shelter is at full capacity every night, and we turn away an average of 60 individuals per month due to space limitations. We are committed to doing our due diligence to ensure any future growth meets the needs of our community in the most effective way possible.

A heartfelt thank you to the county leaders who took the time to visit our facility, meet the women and children we serve, and witness the critical need firsthand. Your dedication to supporting families in crisis is truly appreciated.

We thank you and look forward to keeping our community informed as we move through this process!

ChattaDerby Tickets are Now On Sale! We are still looking for sponsors and silent auction items, too.

Whether you own a business, work for a company that can sponsor, or want to sponsor as an individual or group, we have sponsorship levels that fit your budget!

And every year, the week before ChattaDerby, we host an online silent auction that's stocked with experiences, event tickets, artwork, gift cards, travel, and more donated by businesses, individuals, groups, and clubs.

In return, your business or you are emblazoned on our sponsor or silent auction pages that we advertise on social media, newsletters, and press releases. It's a win-win! Don’t miss out on your chance to donate to this one-of-a-kind event! Items can be a value of $50 or more.

Your sponsorship or donated auction items make our work possible and directly support women and children experiencing homelessness.

If your business or one you know will donate to this exciting element of ChattaDerby, please reach out to our Director of Development, Adrienne, at akoon@chattanoogaroomintheinn.com or 423.713.7059.

Acrobatics and Nurturing Relationships

Two lovely speakers from Nurture the Next came to the shelter to lead a parent cafe for our resident moms. Moms were able to connect with each other, share experiences, and gain insights for positive parenting.

Nurture the Next says, "Nurturing relationships and safe environments help children build strong physical, cognitive and emotional foundations that support their healthy development." The goal of each of their programs is to reduce traumatic experiences resulting from adult behavior and environments that can weaken a child’s foundation. From home visits that foster healthy parent-child relationships, to their two-generation approach of improving children's lives, their advocacy and education goes a long way in teaching positive parenting. We are grateful for their partnership!

Meanwhile, our CRITI kids celebrated reaching their reading goal of 3,000 pages with an ice cream party followed by a gymnastics class hosted by Loud and Proud Acrobats.

Loud and Proud Acrobats encourages self-discovery while exploring and developing character traits, and acrobatic and educational skills.

Valentine's Party!

In celebration of Valentine's Day, CRITI kids made cards so they could show appreciation for one another, and they played a LOT of bingo! Prizes were won and a lot of fun was had by all!

ArtsBuild Grant Supports Art Class

Tobi Copeland, an art teacher walked our resident kiddos through an art class teaching them painting techniques, materials, and skills! This child enrichment night was made possible by a grant from ArtsBuild and we are so grateful the children had the opportunity to expand their creativity with the guidance of a professional art teacher.

Thank you, Tobi, and ArtsBuild!

Unitarian Universalist Church of Chattanooga Gives Back

UUCC graciously hosted us for their Give-Back Sunday on February 16th. 100% of their offering plate was donated to Chattanooga Room in the Inn!

During the service, tie blankets were being passed around so each member of the congregation could contribute to the blankets being made. Each member tied a few knots and passed it along. These blankets will also be donated to those experiencing homelessness. What a sweet, meaningful gesture!

Thank you, UUCC, for the invitation to share our mission with your congregation and for your generosity, hospitality, and loving ways.

Kiwanis Club of Chattanooga

Kiwanis Club of Chattanooga invited us to present on Tuesday, February 25th where we were able to share our mission and program with them at The Chattanooga Public Library. What a welcoming group of folks who already do so much good for kids in the community by raising funds to build parks, but they also made a donation to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in our honor. What a wonderful way to honor three worthwhile causes at the same time!
