The MMS Board of Directors is pleased to welcome two new parent members, who were elected at our March meeting:

Salma Badaw i, left, is the mother of two children, son Haitham, 6, who is in Lower Elementary I and Laila, 20 months. She is originally from Syria, having lived in Charleston for five years. She holds a master’s degree in leadership studies from Northeastern University with a concentration in human resources management and a BA in French studies and literature. 

Kiran Faridi, right ,  is the mother of four MMS students (Amal, Farhad, Ameerah and Mahnoor). Her children are in each level of Montessori from Primary to Middle School. She holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. She is the founder and executive director of Islamic Speakers Bureau of West Virginia (ISB-WV), a non-profit organization based in Charleston whose purpose is to educate school and college students about the history and culture of Islam as part of world history, comparative religion and social studies curriculum. She is a certified speaker and a proponent of diversity among American society. She has also been involved in numerous civic and community causes, including serving on the board of Kanawha Valley Interfaith Council (KVIC). She loves to travel and learn about the people from around the world.
