Presented each year, the award highlights the impact of local volunteers who go above and beyond to support and strengthen Meaford.

Short‑term Rental Registry Now Open
Meaford has launched its new Short‑term Rental (STR) Registry, the first step in building the municipality’s STR program. All STR operators are encouraged to register, providing key safety and operational details to support responsible rental activity and prepare for future licensing phases.

2026 Budget Adopted
Meaford’s 2026 Budget was officially adopted on February 6, marking the first full budget cycle under Ontario’s Strong Mayors Legislation. The plan maintains essential services, supports long‑term financial sustainability, and invests in key infrastructure as our community continues to grow.
The budget includes a 3.35% municipal tax rate increase, about $96 annually for a home assessed at $273,000, and continued investment in roads, bridges, facilities, and waterfront assets.

New Chief Building Official,
Dieter Weltz, Appointed
The Municipality of Meaford is pleased to welcome Dieter Weltz as our new Chief Building Official. With more than 20 years of experience in the building sector, including nine years as a Chief Building Official, Dieter brings extensive expertise in building code enforcement, public safety, zoning, and construction.
His leadership will support Meaford’s priorities around growth, attainable housing, and maintaining safe, efficient building services.

Update on Water and Wastewater Billing
As part of the 2026 budget, the Municipality of Meaford is updating how water and wastewater bills are calculated, effective February 1, 2026. These changes move the community toward a more consumption‑based user pay system, where the amount you pay is more closely connected to the amount of water your household uses.

Introducing Proudly Meaford
The Municipality of Meaford has launched Proudly Meaford, a new storytelling series celebrating the growers, makers, builders, and community members who shape our municipality. The first chapter, Proudly Grown in Meaford, highlights the Municipality’s rich agricultural history and the orchards at the heart of our community.
The launch features video stories from two local farming families: the Vails, who have been growing in Meaford since 1825, and the Lambes of Grandma Lambe’s.

| | The second installment of your 2026 interim tax bills is due Friday, April 24. | A reminder to residents that garbage, recycling, and compost must be set out before 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled collection day. Collection can occur anytime between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., so placing materials out early ensures they’re not missed. | | Municipal offices and facilities will be closed for Good Friday on April 3, 2026, and Easter Monday on April 6, 2026.
