A Queen's Narrative

About Us

Hello Samantha,,

The 2024 theme of International Women's Day and Women's History Month is “Invest in women: Accelerate Progress.”

The importance of gender equality and women’s empowerment personally moves me and lands softly into the fat of my comforts and puts fire to my nerve endings. March is already a loaded month, especially with the added theme of girl's empowerment for Women's History Month. When I think of girl empowerment, I think of accountability on a sacred level. Like all the wombs, spirits, and women in the world should be summoned. I envision women standing in alignment, praying, and rolling out resources of all kinds.

Women wearing a crown is not just for themselves, but for others. That is why I love the efforts of A Queen’s Narrative.

Not enough women are laying blueprints or paving the way, but we are out there. Read More.

The Birth of An Artist Youth Series

 in collaboration with Artoonist

A Queen's Narrative, in collaboration with Artoonist Kahli Hernandez, presents "The Birth of an Artist," a 12-week youth series for girls aged 12 to 18, running from April 11 to June 27 at the Dunbar Community Center.

This series aims to merge the art of public speaking and creative arts expression through painting among our young queens. Alongside painting skills, the program will incorporate elements of public speaking, leadership development, and entrepreneurship.

Young Queens in this program will have the opportunity to showcase their artwork at local craft fairs and festivals in the community. Our objective is to assist them in unlocking their creative potential and provide a platform to express themselves and their artwork. Register your young queen today!

A Poem "Breathing Voice" by Nzima Hutchings

"I am your voice trying not to die

I am the whisper you hold

The secret bold

Silenced

Demanding space

The resounding echoes

The shake below knots in your throat

The trembling

The risk-n

The hollering

The Brilliance resilient

The I got this shit   voice  on replay

The salty taste-n rolling tears inside crying

Crying brave space

The ring in your ear callin’ out

Stretch out

The picturesque  OOh  shape-n ya mouth

OOH   I am your voice, your voice Dancing    tiptoed    on nerves

Whirling around   singing familiar notes  soprano n alto

Free me me me me me me me me meeee

Mixing tones with blues  on saxophone, Echoing words in the morning

giving rattle and bone to your soul

The reverberating sound and words

saying let go, let go of the rope

The tethering strings that no longer serve...

Clip the frays, and burn the edges clean

Ready the fight grab the vaseline

Allow the dust to sway n swirl away Like confetti

Land softly then phoenix-like fly it

Bring your brown braided twist

Bewitch the shift stay with the livin

Name the need out loud

Sage on

Abound

Open choked and closed space

Trace love in the face

Be the grace

Swing your feet about-face

Rocksteady the yes-yes head nod  until ready

Tilt your shoulders back wide your smile show teeth to sky

Un-fear to prepare the grounding

The rebounding and re-dos

God ain't through with you

Reassign trepidations built

Forget the things spilt

Wrinkle today’s time

Realign to redefine

Your voice seeks a free tongue to speak

to speak to unborn daughters depending on you"

QUEENS AROUND TOWN

Dora D. Robinson Women's Leadership Council Launch Event

International Women's Day signifies a significant moment for women to unite in sisterhood and celebrate each other's achievements. Our esteemed queens Aumani, Jazmine, Samantha, and Taneisha participated in the inaugural gathering of the Dora D Robinson Women's Leadership Council (DDRWLC), inspired by the spirit and legacy of Dora D. Robinson, the pioneering first African American Executive Director of United Way Pioneer Valley. The DDRWLC extends a warm invitation to all women to join as members through their dedicated membership page.

UMASS FINE ARTS CENTER WELCOME RECEPTION

Check out our queens, Aumani and Samantha, at the Umass Fine Arts Center welcoming Harold Steward, Executive Director of the New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA), and Michael Bobbit, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC). During this gathering, Samantha and Aumani had the privilege of sharing the impactful work of A Queen's Narrative and had the opportunity to learn from a collective group from the valley about their creative arts projects ranging from performing arts, exhibitions, and cultural celebrations.

I AM ME Fashion Show

A Queen's Narrative was excited to be a proud sponsor of the "I AM ME FASHION SHOW" organized by Strong Young Minds and Teka Jones. Our queen Aumani is striking a pose with host Brett Gray also known as Jamal on the hit show "On My Block."

The event transcended mere fashion showcasing; it emerged as a dedicated platform for empowering children and nurturing their self-confidence and self-esteem. Beyond the spotlight on the latest trends, it spotlighted the growth and transformation experienced by young participants. Employing creative methodologies, the program not only imparted vital life skills but also ignited aspirations within the next generation. With the participation of over 100 youths, the event stood as a testament to talent and resilience. From esteemed celebrity guests to captivating live performances, it constituted a magical convergence, promoting positivity and inclusivity. The profound impact of such initiatives extends to addressing prevalent issues such as low self-esteem. It is through events like these that the seeds of confidence and inspiration are sown in our future leaders.
