We are gearing up for what could be a record breaking season here in OBX. Have you planned your summer vacation yet?

Your OBX national park staff are working hard to make sure you can enjoy these amazing places safely this summer.

Women Air Force Service Pilots (WASPs):

Not Afraid of a Challenge

Your OBX park staff are continuing to explore the legacy of the Wright Brothers through the stories of the many brave men and women who have influenced the field of aviation since the historic first flight.

Recently, Ranger Ashley had the opportunity to interview Dorothy Cochrane, curator of the National Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., about the WASPs, the female aviators who made crucial contributions during World War II. Not only did they assist the Allies' efforts, but they paved the way for women to become military pilots many years later.

Meet Your Ranger: Beth Hudick

In celebration of Women's History Month and as part of our ongoing Meet Your Ranger series, we'd like to introduce you to Beth Hudick!

Beth works as the North District Interpreter at Wright Brothers National Memorial and Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, where she does, well, a little bit of everything! She oversees a team of your OBX national park staff, develops programs and events to share the stories that shaped our history, drafts the annual park newspaper and spends time engaging visitors.
