Do you remember that great line from Hanna-Barberra’s “Quick Draw McGraw?” Well, the idea of who’s doing the thinking has over the past few years taken on a new significance with the development of Artificial Intelligence, hereafter referred to as AI.
AI isn’t new. The idea has been around and researched for decades, but in the past decade the science has really taken off. During the golden age of science fiction, the idea of thinking machines (i.e., robots) were a staple of storytellers. In 1942, the great Issac Asimov wrote a short story entitled “Runaround,” in which he introduced the Three Laws of Robotics...

It’s been almost seven years since BookNotes caught up with Passager the local, independent literary press dedicated to older writers. So, I invited Founding Editor Kendra Kopelke back to the studio to talk about their current poetry contest and their latest issue—which will have an online launch at 2 pm on Sunday, March 26th.

Recently I did a podcast for the Candlelight Concert Society on Robert Schumann’s masterpiece Kreisleriana. The piece is inspired by E. T. A. Hoffmann’s writings about his fictional alter ego the Kapellmeister Johannes Kreisler.
The work is also influenced by Hoffmann’s writings about the tomcat Murr, with whom and by accident, Kreisler shares his biography.
Therefore it was only natural that I share the podcast with our cat Chou Chou (named for Debussy’s daughter Claude Emma) who shares her appreciation for Kreisleriana at the end of the podcast! I think E. T. A. Hoffmann and Schumann would approve.

I like to tell the story of when I was in the process of immigrating from Africa to America and I had this seemingly outlandish fantasy of being a classical music DJ somewhere on the East Coast. Truthfully, I had no idea if any radio station in America would be prepared to take on someone who sounded the way I did. (At the same time that I applied for the position at WBJC I also applied to a radio station in Cincinnati … I have yet to hear back from them.) But I am living my dream, and I will be forever grateful to the search committee at WBJC for taking me on all those years ago. I am also so grateful to you for your open-hearted welcome. Thank you for keeping me company every workday drive-time, and for allowing me to share glorious music with you for the last twenty-five years.

By: Stephen R. Elville, J.D., LL.M. – Managing Principal and Lead Attorney –
Elville and Associates, P.C.
Lately I’ve been thinking about the theme Elville and Associates has been talking to clients about so much since late 2022 and now into 2023, and that is achieving perfection in estate planning. While this concept is important, and an idea that sets the bar higher than it’s likely ever been set before, it’s important to also understand that the object is not to focus on perfection at the outset – meaning perfectionism is not what I am referring to. This problem is what holds so many people back, and not just in estate planning. READ MORE HERE
