Find Your Place In The Sun!

I, Terrie, am fortunate to have a very talented husband who built me a beautiful new office last summer. This year I am truly enjoying my place in the sun! Why is this so important? Because like you, I need to have a place to work that is beautiful, functional, and inspires me to do great work for my clients. 

Terrie's New Office Addition

When I started PSM 20 years ago, my office was in our kitchen. Needless to say, that didn't last long. I then moved my office to the other side of our master bedroom. Hearing emails come in at 1:00 a.m. didn't work either. Fast forward to our home now. I walk into my office and feel happy, refreshed, and ready to start my day. I have a nice cup of coffee outside in my "conference room," and use this time to reflect on what I would like to accomplish.

From my standing desk I can look out over the beautiful vista that is our back yard. I hear birds chirping, wind chimes, and leaves riding the wave of the wind. I see myriad business books, and pictures of my wonderful family everywhere. I smell newly flowering trees and my lilac soy candle, mixed with a hint of wood smoke from last night's fire. This is my place in the sun - the place in which I can conduct coaching calls with my clients, create strategic marketing plans, and wade through the stream of continuous email messages I receive each day. It took me 18 years to finally get it right. 

The Natural View

My hope for each of you is that you walk into your office and it inspires you to greatness. Step back and ask yourself how you FEEL when you walk into your office, what you HEAR around you, what you SEE when you enter your office. Does it inspire you? If not, take control of transforming your workspace into your place in the sun. Surround yourself with things that make you feel happy and make you smile. You will then be ready to do the very best work you can for your clients, and leave your office looking forward to what tomorrow brings.
