Outdoor movie night at the Marshall-Lyon County Library! We will be hosting an in-car outdoor movie in the Marshall library parking lot. It is rated PG and runs for about an hour and 45 minutes. To ensure sightlines to the screen, space may be limited. Prime spots are first come, first served! These are in-vehicle events: you will use your car radio to tune in to the audio of the movie. When you arrive, tune your radio to 88.1 FM.
In the event of rain, this event may instead be held indoors in the Marshall Library community room at the same time.

Start the day with a song as you listen for melodies and meander near the river. Join local bird experts Sue and Beth at the north picnic shelter for a guided Saturday morning bird walk. Meet at 8:45am. Walk starts at 9:00am. The walk will be approximately 0.5 miles on a fairly flat mowed grass trail. Participants are invited to bring their own binoculars. The park has a few pairs available as well. MN State Park permits are required for vehicle entry.

SMSU Annual Farmer's Open Golf Tournament |

The Southwest Minnesota State University Athletics Department along with the Farmer's Open Committee will host the annual Farmer's Open on Monday, Aug. 7, at the Marshall Golf Club.
Lunch and registration will begin at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start at 12 p.m. Dinner, social, awards presentation and prize giveaways will follow golf.
Proceeds from the event going towards ag scholarships for SMSU student-athletes. The tournament, which started in 2011, has raised nearly $100,000 in scholarship for SMSU students.

On August 8 from 1:30-4:00 pm, we are having a special exhibit preview open house for all veterans and their family members along with active service men and women. At 2:00, local Vietnam veterans will share how they participated in the exhibit. Light refreshments will be served.

Your team will have 30 minutes to discover clues, solve puzzles, and accomplish tasks to escape the schoolhouse! Cost is $25.00 per team (Cash or Check made payable to Lyon County Museum). Fundraiser for maintenance and upkeep of the schoolhouse. To reserve your time slot, visit the museum’s website at: www.lyoncomuseum.org and click on Escape Room to access the online form. Registration begins at 12:00pm for a 1:00pm shotgun start. 4 person scramble format. $100 per golfer which includes: 18-hole green fees, cart and food following the event. Money raised goes to producing “Boxes of Blessings” delivered to mothers and families who have recently suffered a pregnancy or infant loss. Our goal is to let no women or families suffer alone.

2023 Stuff the Bus Campaign | |
Help the Chamber "Stuff the Bus!" We're a drop-off location this year for NEW school supplies for the month of August; find us at 317 W Main Street!
The 2022 Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive collected and distributed over 56,000 school supplies to approximately 4,000 local K-12 children at 22 local schools within our service area. Thank you United Way of Southwest Minnesota for all you do!

This campaign raises awareness of Breast Cancer and provides the opportunity for local families battling cancer to receive financial assistance to help cover medical costs.

Chamber E-Connection Guidelines & Policies | |
Newsletter Goals & Audience
The purpose of the Chamber E-Connection newsletter is to share our member's events with other business and community members. It's an informational newsletter and helps to promote our member businesses and their events. Each Friday, our newsletter is sent to over 1,500 individuals. Our separate emails are sent to the same list, but are held especially for our Chamber events and Business After Hours.
Newsletter Policy
E-Connection events are included based on the requests from the member business. The following criteria are requested by the Marshall Area Chamber for event submissions:
*Event flyers or submissions must be an actual event. We don't include sales or promotions.
*Events can be included in the E-Connection for one week free of charge. You have the option of adding one additional week for $20.
*Submissions to be included must be sent the Wednesday prior to that Friday's E-Connection - they can be emailed to chamber@marshallmn.org.
*All event flyers are for Marshall Area Chamber of Commerce members only.
