SMSU Fine Arts Theatre

SMSU Theatre opens its 56th season with Little Women, a play with music adapted by Jacqueline Goldfinger from the beloved novel by Louisa May Alcott. Performances are October 25-28 at 7:30 pm and October 28-29 at 2 pm in the SMSU Fine Arts Theatre. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door. Seating is first-come, first-served. Admission is free for SMSU students with valid student ID. Free and convenient parking is available in lot B-1.

It's time for Corn Maze Season 2023! We are excited to welcome kids and adults of all ages to experience our "Feeling Tipsy" maze and activities! Please see specific events for our Glow Nights and Haunted Nights.

General Admission is $12 per person. Ages 3 and under free. Discount rates available for groups of 25 or more.

Just in time for Halloween, join us at Painted Prairie for a spooky glow maze! This evening will be a more family-friendly version of the spooky maze, which will take place on the 28th.

Come and enjoy the maze in the dark with some spooky additions! Cost is $14 per person for advanced tickets and includes glow accessories. Last guests should enter the maze at 9 p.m.to allow time to navigate the maze. Cheers! Rain or shine, the maze will be open! Advanced ticket purchases strongly encouraged.

Come on out and enjoy a more haunted version of the Spooky Maze! This experience is designed for more mature audiences and will have actors/actresses in costume.

Please note, all young adults (16 and under) must be accompanied by an adult as they go through the maze. Foul play or harassment of the characters will not be tolerated and parties will be asked to exit. Cost is $14 per person for advanced tickets. $16 day-of. The last groups will start entering the maze at 9 p.m. to give ample time to enjoy the experience.

Advanced ticket purchase strongly encouraged. Rain or shine, the maze will be open. Tickets are non-refundable.

Living Word Women's Day will be happening on Saturday, October 28th, from 8 AM - 2 PM. Breakfast will start at 8 AM, with the event starting at 9 AM. The event includes simulcast speakers Jennie Allen & Bianca Olthoff, as well as local Living Word speakers. Local vendors will also be on site!

Cost is $15 per person, which includes breakfast, lunch, and a special gift. Sign up in Church Center or by contacting the office no later than Wednesday, October 25th. There will also be a table during church on Oct 22. The gals will be selling tickets and collecting bar signups.

Author and historian Colin Mustful has published four novels related to the complicated and tragic period of Minnesota history that culminated in the hanging of thirty-eight Dakota men in Mankato on December 26, 1862. In his newest novel, Reclaiming Mni Sota, Mustful takes a new approach to history—an alternate view that asks the question, “What if Minnesota were Mni Sota Makoce, a Native held and governed land? In this presentation, Mustful will talk about the value of turning history around while explaining how doing so helps readers see the direct connection between the past and the present. Mustful will talk about his journey to discovering the power of storytelling, the importance of diverse narratives, and the literary diversity initiative he’s launched in order to confront those issues.
