Honey Creek Bell to be Restored!

After the article on the bell at Honey Creek ran last week in From the Field many folks reached out to see if they could contribute to the restoration. An anonymous donor stepped forward and offered to provide all of the funding for the bell tower project. Thank you to all who offered to help and especially the donor.

Diocesan staff have been unpacking the offices at 18 E. 34th Street. Electricians, carpenters and IT experts are still installing phone, internet, and security systems. Phones and computers will be offline until tomorrow.

Again, we ask for your patience as we settle into our new home. An Open House will be held to give the diocese a chance to see our new home.

This will also be a truncated version of From the Field as the Communications Director continues to unpack.

Youth in the Diocese
Hometown Missions Seek and Serve Christ

Are you looking for a chance to reach out and serve others both locally and internationally? Then come to Hometown Missions June 1-3! This Diocesan event which moves around the Diocese each year will be held in Augusta this year. Participants will begin on Friday night by taking part in a meal packing event in partnership with Rise Against Hunger, an international organization dedicated to fighting hunger across the globe. We anticipate packing between 10,000 and 20,000 meals during our two hours on Friday night, at the cost of only 29 cents per meal! Then on Saturday participants will divide into smaller groups to go to different worksites throughout the Augusta area. Some work sites will work with individual members of local congregations and some will work with local organizations. We will be spending the night on Friday and Saturday at The Church of the Good Shepherd, Augusta, and will attend Sunday worship there, before the event concludes with lunch on Sunday.

This event will offer at least eight volunteer hours, and possibly more, for those students who need volunteer hours for school.

The cost of the event is $115 for those who sign up before May 15. After May 15, the cost increases to $125, so sign up early! We also welcome donations to help cover the cost of the meal packing event on Friday night. If you would like to make a donation to support this ministry, please contact Canon Joshua Varner at the Diocesan Office.

Additional information about specific work sites and fun activities can be found on the youth website for the diocese, which is Direct registration is also found at

Part-time Church Musician
Looking for a musician who can lead both choir and worship team. We're an Episcopal Church who likes blended worship in a liturgical setting. At this point we have one service at 10:30 am on Sundays. There would be two rehearsals, not to exceed an hour; one midweek and another prior to worship. We are very inclusive and an open church.

Previous experience in leading a choral and/or worship group. Ability to sing and read sheet music. Familiarity with both contemporary music and updating old, familiar hymns. Ability to be a team player with the pastor and others. Familiarity with a liturgical setting helpful; am willing to train if necessary.
Contact The Rev. Dr. Cynthia Taylor at with resume. No phone calls please.
