It has been a busy few weeks here at Outer Banks Forever after a successful National Park Week in April that included launching our first webcam in your OBX national parks. Our audience has grown since then, so if this is your first time getting our monthly newsletter - welcome! I hope you'll enjoy our behind the scenes looks at the people, animals, and stories that make your OBX national parks so special. This month is an exciting one in your parks - in addition to the many visitors flocking to our beautiful islands, the sea turtles are returning! We had our first confirmed sea turtle nest this past weekend and will be talking all things sea turtles in our live Coffee with a Ranger series on Thursday (details below). Earlier this month we also announced a new partnership - the Wright Route - that will squash rumors of an aviation rivalry between Ohio and North Carolina and bring you a new way to experience the story and legacy of the Wright Brothers in both places. Talking Turtles with Park Ranger, Meaghan Johnson

The Lost Colony returns!

Fort Raleigh National Historic Site preserves many important stories that have impacted our country’s history, but it is best known as the site of the first attempted English colony in the “New World.”  For more than 80 years, one of the main attractions at the park has been the theatrical telling of this story by our friends at the Roanoke Island Historical Association. After cancelling its 2020 season, The Lost Colony, the longest running symphonic outdoor drama in the United States, is back for its 84th season which kicks off on May 28th! This year, you can experience a refreshed production with new layers added to the story for a more authentic experience that includes new dance numbers and more.
