Pigasso & Mootise


Oh, the masterpieces you'll create! Join us for a hands-on art adventure at Ellington Middle School, where young artists ages 7-12 will explore the bold styles of Picasso, Matisse, van Gogh, and more. Experiment with tie-dyed T-shirts, mosaic art, decoupage animals, celestial stained glass, and funky 3D designs using unexpected materials. The Philosophy for Tiny Tots is to provide a fun atmosphere for learning tennis fundamentals. Emphasis will be made on hand-eye coordination, body movements & skills.

Pee Wee Tennis is a soft introduction to tennis. We introduce a variety of games and activities using scaled-down equipment that are easily handled by children at this age level.

Youth Tennis

Ages 8-13

Build a foundation for athletic development. Focus is on developing the ABCs (agility, balance, and coordination) while forming skills necessary to serve, rally, & score.

USTA JUNIOR TENNIS TEAM


Teams in three age groups (18U, 14U, and 10U) work on development and play and compete against teams from Western Massachusetts and Northern Connecticut in official USTA leagues. Practice/play will begin the week of June 24th and conclude in season ending tournaments around August 10th. Conditions permitting, all teams end their season with a weekend tournament.

Adult Beginner Lessons


These small group lessons are designed for adult beginners who are new to tennis or returning after a long break. Participants will learn fundamental skills including proper grip, basic strokes (forehand, backhand, serve), footwork, and rules of the game. The supportive, small group setting ensures personalized instruction and plenty of practice time, making it easy & fun to build confidence & enjoy the game.

Adult Intermediate Lessons


These small group lessons are ideal for adults with some tennis experience who are ready to refine their technique and improve consistency. Instruction focuses on stroke development, positioning, shot selection, and match play strategies. The small group format allows for individualized coaching and dynamic drills to build confidence and elevate your game in a fun, supportive environment.

Adult Tennis Social League


Join us on Thursday nights at 6:30 at the Schwartz Park Tennis Courts for round robin doubles play. We’ll total up games won by the individuals for the night to identify the night’s winner. This will be a “league” for players of all levels. After our Thursday evening matches, we will head out for appetizers and drinks at an additional cost. Thursdays 7:00 pm, $10 on first night to pay for balls for the summer. Starts July 11 and runs through August 27. Email Recreationstaff@ellington-ct.gov to confirm your spot.
