Sport History Spotlight: New USHJA Wheeler Museum Exhibit Brings Horse Show Photography to Life
You’re invited to the newest Wheeler Museum exhibit, "Through The Lens: The Art of Hunter/Jumper Photography," now open to the public at the USHJA Headquarters in Lexington, Ky. Photos on display by nine featured photographers and nearly a dozen others provide a unique view of 60 years of hunter/jumper horse shows.

The exhibit showcases images selected by legendary photographers themselves and accompanied by their stories behind the images. While practicing the art of shooting on film and with digital cameras, hunter/jumper photographers have captured the elegance of hunters and the power of jumpers and given us a visual history of the hunter/jumper sport. You’ll see iconic horses, riders, and events; images captured through strategic planning or luck of location or lighting; and candid shots filled with emotion. You’ll also go on a trip through time of horse show exhibitor and spectator fashion!

The exhibit also includes items from the permanent collection of the Show Jumping Hall of Fame related to the horses and riders featured in the photographs on display and a special section dedicated to film excerpts from "Harry & Snowman" and personal mementos loaned by the de Leyer family. Show Season Prep: Don’t forget your stall card!
In the case of an emergency after show hours, a stall card is your way of letting show personnel know how to contact you, should anything be wrong with your horse. Before heading to the showgrounds, pack a completed stall card and post it on your horse's stall door upon arrival. Your horse’s life may depend on it!

USHJA Guide to Competition Rules
As the national affiliate for hunters and jumpers, the USHJA plays an important role in providing input to USEF rules that affect the hunter and jumper disciplines. At the same time, the USHJA aims to help our members understand the rules in place and proposals being considered, while providing a mechanism through which our members can provide feedback and input to the rules that affect them.

The rule change process for 2020 is already underway, with USHJA committees, task forces and working groups meeting to discuss proposed changes. Individuals who are also members of US Equestrian are eligible to submit a standard rule change proposal, but must do so by June 1.

Familiarize yourself with the rule change process and how rule change proposals are submitted by clicking the button. More information about submitting a rule change proposal as an individual can be obtained by contacting USEF Customer Care at (859) 258-2472.
