Overdose deaths remain a major issue in our country and were greatly exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The CDC reports that from 2019 to 2020, overdose deaths increased by 30%. 2021 saw a 15% increase from the previous year, totaling to 107,622 overdose deaths. A majority of these deaths involved opioids, primarily fentanyl.
