Prayer Request

Please hold in prayer the family of Rev. Dr. David Leslie, pastor of Monroe City Christian Church, as he passed away last weekend. The family will be having a private funeral. A service of remembrance is being planned at Monroe City at a later date. Please no flowers, instead giving to your favorite charity of cause will honor his memory.

Women Empowering Women in MInistry

On Monday, February 2nd we had a fantastic Women Empowering Women gathering in Macon, Missouri. Hats off and thank you to Christina Hayworth and Macon First Christian Church for hosting us, serving a lovely lunch with all the trimmings and providing a safe place for women in ministry and those there to support them; engaging, making connections, and building lasting relationships, and spiritual partners! We were blessed with a visit from Elena Huegel from Global Ministries Thank you Elena for sharing with us!

Rev. Tim Whitmore Ordained

Congratulations to Rev. Tim Whitmore who was ordained last Sunday at First Christian Church in Warrensburg. He is pictured here (at front) with Regional Minister Paul Koch (back right) and other supporting clergy colleagues.

Thinking about Ordination?

Are you, or someone you love, a commissioned minister who has been in good standing at least seven years in the Mid-America Region? Or perhaps you are a commissioned minister who has completed, or are close to completing, a certificate program like CMLT at Phillips Seminary, or have received a Masters in Theological Studies from an accredited school?

The Regional Commission on the Order of Ministry is looking for its next cohort of ministers who meet the above requirements and would like to explore a path from commission to ordinationPlease reach out to Associate Regional Minister Rev. David Woodard to learn more or express interest in pursuing this path towards ordination.

CCMA Board & Staff Meet

Last Wednesday, our Mid-America staff and board met for a retreat day of reflection, grounding, communication, and planning. We were hosted by First Christian Church in Fayette and their pastor, and our board secretary, Rev. Sharae Kelley. We thank them for sharing their lovely space, warm hospitality, and delicious, plentiful food.

Thanks also to our volunteer board members who provide ongoing direction for our ministry activities, especially our Moderator Rev. Charles Williams.

We ask for your prayers as we come away from the day aware of some challenges, renewed in a spirit of collaboration, and excited to more fully connect Region-wide, living the Good News and being the Church we say we are!

From the Wider Church

This coming week's Global Ministries prayer request is for Honduras.

General Assembly 2026

Save the dates for the 2026 General Assembly online, July 10–11, 2026! The theme, BEYOND: Love Surpassing (Ephesians 3:14–21), builds on the work that God began last year and marks the first General Assembly of the new triennium as we live into our new structure. Plan to join us online alone or with others at a local assembly gathering in your area for vital worship, discernment, and connection.

Congregations are encouraged to host 'watch parties'. Later this month, tech training will be offered to help churches connect.

Week of Compassion Special Offering

The Week of Compassion Special Offering will be received in most congregations on February 15 & 22. As the relief, refugee, and development mission fund of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), they work with partners to alleviate suffering throughout the world. Please support their vital work as you are able.

Clergy Professional Development

C'mon clergy, we know it's hard to find, travel to, and pay for meaningful professional development opportunities, so don't! We've found some great choices that you can attend from anywhere for free!

Monday, 2/16, 6pm - From Burden to Blessing: Rethinking How We Think about Our Church Buildings. This webinar is presented by the Center for Ministry & Lay Training at Phillips Theological Seminary and will offer faithful, practical ideas for reimagining church property as an asset for mission and community life.

Mondays, 3/2 - 3/30, 7pm - ARPRJM Book Study. This five-part series is offered by our own Mid-America ARPRJM team and all are welcome. We'll be studying The Bible According to Christian Nationalists: Exploiting Scripture for Political Power. This event is not just for clergy, but clergy who read the book and participate do fulfil their three-year anti-racism training requirement.

Bonus: This one includes the perk of anytime!

Our Associate Regional Minister Angela Williams recently attended the Lexington Theological Seminary webinar Countering Christian Nationalism in Lent: Sermon Ideas for Preachers. Thanks to her, we have available a recording of the event, as well as all the resources shared.

Thanks for keeping in touch!
